This is so much how one (me) think of the Western part of the states. (Yes I probably have seen to many american movies 🫣) and photos from my fathers travels there in the 70's.

Love it!

@ambivalena Lol--Roy's is pretty iconic of the "Mother Road," Route 66. Were you with your dad on his travels in the '70s?

he he!

No no, he was there with his brother and a friend, driving across the country looking for a car to bring home to Sweden and to see the land of freedom of his dreams. He was there for a month the first year.

@ambivalena Well, bummer he did not not bring you along! Did he find a car? It seems like you mentioned once that he brought a car home from the States. I noticed you commented on a recent photo of a '50s car someone posted. Reno is famous for our annual celebration of '50s cars. It's called Hot August Nights. Thousands of better-than-new restored vintage cars show up.

Well I think I would have been to young to appreciate a journey like that back then.
Yes he did find one, a Cadillac Fleetwood 54 that almost looked brand new, everything in a good shape and original.
Yes I did, it was Bob Horowitz that posted Buick :)
Ah, that sounds like a really nice thing, I really live those old beautiful cars. We had a lot of different american cars from that period during my childhood.

@ambivalena Oh, okay, I remember you telling me about the Cadillac! Ya, I forgot, I have eight years on you. I was a kid in the '60s and grew up in the '70s. Here's a couple of shots from Reno's Hot August Nights. It is a week long event. These are photos from one--of about fifty--locations across the city!

Ambivalena :verigold: reshared this.
