A square photo in colour shows the inside of the door in Mai Mai's kitchen. The door itself is a window-door, largely a glass pane, & overtop of the glass is a long, patterned window shade. The shade is in mustard yellow with a print of white daisies with their green stems. The fabric is sturdy waxed cotton, the type often used for tablecloths or overtop of flooring as a protective layer. The shade is actually just a long panel of fabric that's affixed at the top of the door & can be rolled up manually. Pre-made window shades in door length are expensive, so Mai Mai has made this one herself. In photo the bright & direct sunlight is coming through the wrought-iron of the tiny balcony outside the door, the light projected onto the shade, creating a silhouette of three horizontal lines above seven thinner vertical lines all of which make up the balcony's structure. Around the door is the dark-wood doorframe. The moment is calm yet uplifted & cheery.
