Zoo is snoring next to me. Been a long weekend of barking at people walking up the street, driving down the street, and neighbors who had the nerve to bring 5 (5!!!!) dogs to their house yesterday.

He went out with me and did his #1 right away after I came home from work. After supper, when he usually does #2, I tried to make him do it before forecast heavy rain starts. But...he wasn't interested and wanted to come back in. We will try again after the rain lets up.
It's super humid . While I was with him in the yard, mosquitos ate me alive...Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer here in GA...But school is out, no more school buses for a while!!!

Summer is the center of our universe.
She brings the joy every day.
This morning wasn't going to be an adventure morning so Summer settled in for an at home relax, refuel and revitalize day.
Some housework, baking and a smidge of gardening.
Summer started out with cuddles for her pal but jumped on to my lap for a long warm doggie massage.
She does love a good massage.
Our holiday weekend started out rocky but we turned it around. Sometimes it feels like a miracle to see things that are going sideways can come right back to being manageable.
Thankful for that.
Summer's calm and constant presence is a multiplyier of good outcomes for her pal.
I am absolutely positive.

Happy dog Summer talked me into a quick beach run. We thought that we out earlied everyone but ran into another dog family with the same idea. Since we were on the beach first they decided to go on to the next access point. Very nice dog mom.
It was misty and cold but we played and played.
When our hour was up we jogged back to the car to motor home and cook breakfast.
A perfect start to our day.
I actually managed to get five hours of sleep last night so things are going much better. Summer and her pal slept almost all night.

Managed to get some sleep last night.
We were up for an hour at 2 am but all cuddled up again and slept in until 7.
Much needed rest for all.
I headed to town as soon as breakfast was settled to get to the garden store.
I wanted some soil amendments and rose food.
Flowers always make their way into my basket as I have no self control in these places.
Picked up donuts for my husband who will always choose greasy raised donuts over my baked treats.
As soon as I got home Summer gathered up the garden supplies so we could plant beets in an old oak barrel and start spinach seeds in some recycled plastic pots.
She is the happiest dog when she gets to help in the garden.

It's so hard to be Summer.
She has to keep an eye on, not one but two, humans who don't always stay in the same spot.
I dare say it's a little easier to keep track of my husband.
Because, it's the end of the day, and she doesn't want to put out any extra effort she stays perfectly still and just moves her eyes back and forth.
Multitasking while keeping her bear close too.
A dog of many talents.
She hasn't lost any of us yet.

This is a rare week with no medical appointments on our calendar.
Yay!
Summer thought she needed to pester me for a walk by bringing a hat for me to wear but I was way ahead of her with the water bottle filled and boots on already.
Today is a picture perfect day here on the north coast of California.
We started out early and even asked my husband to come along but he decided he's not quite ready even if we scale back our adventuring.
Maybe tomorrow we can take the truck to get him on the beach.

Summer monitors all kitchen activities.
The first photo is her before I mentioned blueberry muffins the second photo is her licking her chops at the very mention of her favorite forbidden treat.

Summer is the sweetest lap dog.
Maybe in the universe.
She has a long list of chores today.
Gopher surveillance is high on her list.
Sometimes we have different priorities.
Housework, baking, shopping, for us and a sick friend, gardening, and maybe protesting is on my list
Summer's pal has been holding his own and getting a little stronger every day. He says eating pies are key to his good health. I'm not so sure about that.
No time to dawdle.
Coffee and muffins to serve for breakfast and off to Costco.
For some reason Summer and I feel hopeful for the future today. It's a fabulous feeling.
