Visual trends emerging in film include morphing/blurring imagery, the surreal, dark tales, nostalgia, and new times, new spaces, writes USC professor Holly Willis.

“I’ve noticed the prevalence of the Death Mother archetype in recent horror films. I believe she reflects one of the darkest elements of the collective psyche. I also believe that it can be productive to engage with her – that she can be transformed by bringing her to light.” theconversation.com/the-death-… (By film scholar Kerry Hegarty, Miami University) #movies #horror #film

Today's image is *Flowery Bounce*, an in-camera double exposure on Ilford FP4+ film
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For the longest time I was convinced that at the 1/60th of a second I shoot my images in the studio, in-motion poses would be entirely blurry... But of course that's absurd, because the flash speed is what determines the image that gets captured, and the flash speed is way faster than 1/60th. So I've started trying to work out good looking poses in mid-air. What do you think ?

*Into the Wild* is an in-camera double exposure on Ilford FP4+ film.

There's a gray area somewhere between structured textures (leaves pointing in the same direction, etc.) and chaotic ones (random variety of different plants) that I really like but is very tricky to get by design. On this image, I feel like I've found that elusive middle ground.

I've an obsession with #film poster painting style from the 1960s/70s, but never really thought to try it myself. I decided to reimagine Fahrenheit 451 as I was listening to Herrmann's score. Quite pleased! Could become a new hobby (or maybe even take commissions!)

Image of the day is *Stability*, a
multiple exposure on Ilford FP4+ film

One of the really fun aspects of "One and More" is figuring out poses. I have a little sketchbook where I draw stick figures, but quite often as was the case here with David, the models come up with ideas once they have figured out what it is I'm trying to achieve. I absolutely love this pose, it really feels like a new creature has been born.

*Clap Hands* is a multiple exposure on Ilford FP4+ film.

I'm finally getting somewhere with my multiple exposure project of the same model, tentatively named "one and more". It takes a lot of brainstorming to come up with poses, and there are a lot of technical issues related to the model being lit multiple times, but slowly I'm solving these issues. I was particularly pleased with this idea, which came up spontaneously during the shoot. Elena was a real trooper, especially considering it was our first collaboration. Bonus points for those who get the title reference.
