For the longest time I was convinced that at the 1/60th of a second I shoot my images in the studio, in-motion poses would be entirely blurry... But of course that's absurd, because the flash speed is what determines the image that gets captured, and the flash speed is way faster than 1/60th. So I've started trying to work out good looking poses in mid-air. What do you think ?

There's a gray area somewhere between structured textures (leaves pointing in the same direction, etc.) and chaotic ones (random variety of different plants) that I really like but is very tricky to get by design. On this image, I feel like I've found that elusive middle ground.

‘Alice and her daughter Frieda sit in the parking lot. Alice knows what other parents judge her for – being a mother who can’t get her child to school. Frieda, now eight, has autism and is one of the thousands of children in Australia experiencing “school refusal”, also known as “school can’t” – children who have difficulty attending school due to emotional distress."

One of the last challenges to overcome with this project is the background. It's getting lit by the flashlights so many times (9 in this instance, my Canon won't do more than 9x exposures) that it turns mushy grey. I now have a new background that supposedly does not reflect light, we'll see how that helps. Meanwhile, some of the images are still stunning (I think like this one of Marie which evokes a stylised sun to me...

I'm finally getting somewhere with my multiple exposure project of the same model, tentatively named "one and more". It takes a lot of brainstorming to come up with poses, and there are a lot of technical issues related to the model being lit multiple times, but slowly I'm solving these issues. I was particularly pleased with this idea, which came up spontaneously during the shoot. Elena was a real trooper, especially considering it was our first collaboration. Bonus points for those who get the title reference.
