Dutch secretary of state says that stopping to work with American tech companies on the short term is not possible.
This is nonsense. Also people have been trying to put digital independence on the agenda for years, without much success, unfortunately.

🇪🇺 We signed the open letter calling for an Open Source First approach in Europe.
The question public institutions should ask first is simple:
🤔 Is there already a qualified open-source solution that does the job?
If yes, it should be seriously considered before creating new dependencies.
That is how digital sovereignty becomes real.

Updated! We are now up to 20 entries in my European digital sovereignty tracker. New examples of orgs ditching US tech include media entities, the Dutch National Bank, and open source sewing software.
Thanks to everyone who has sent me examples, please do keep them coming if there are others I am missing!
There's a handful that I am still reviewing and I'm also considering in the next update including new categories (political declarations, funding, projects such as Euro-Office, etc)

The UK isn’t a vassal state of America.
Yet Trump wants to punish us over a digital services tax.
This can be resolved by ditching US Big Tech from our digital infrastructure.
We should invest in open source to promote economic growth through greater innovation and a more competitive tech sector.
