Today I share a favourite from a trip years ago into the high mountains of the Assiniboine Range in #Canada during fall when the golden larches were at their absolute peak. The golden larches dotting the landscape in golden colouring at every turn.

Highly recommend backpacking this region. It is absolutely stunning.

A classic autumn alpine landscape featuring vivid golden larch trees surrounding a rocky, still lake that reflects a dramatic snow-dusted mountain peak under a partly cloudy sky. Scattered boulders fill the shallow foreground waters, leading the eye back toward the treeline and the imposing peaks beyond. The rich contrast between the brilliant yellow larches, grey rock faces, and fresh snow captures the brief but spectacular larch season in the Canadian Rockies.

Citadel (2022)

I edited this image last night. I've been trying to crack it's puzzle for years and failed, struggling with it's colours and tones. I desperately wanted an epic shot here when I visited #Yukon in 2022, I'd scoured maps to find a suitable foreground for this peak. But, the weather didn't co-operate the day-of.

I am thrilled to finally share it.

A narrow, gently curving river winds through a dense expanse of low tundra shrubs toward a perfectly symmetrical, cone-shaped mountain rising alone on the horizon under a dramatic, cloud-streaked sky. Rendered in black and white, the sinuous river lead-in, textured shrub vegetation, and the isolated geometric peak combine to create a strongly composed subarctic landscape.
