This picture is mostly sky. The silhouetted crest of a low ridge frames the bottom, a silhouetted pine tree frames the left side. The tops of 2 other trees barely poke into the frame. The rest of the frame is a pale blue gray sky with dark purple gray clouds drifting past. #MountainMonday meets a bit of humour - I named this image "Peace my Dude" as during our backpacking trip my partner and I could not stop seeing a hunched over dude holding his fingers up to say the title. It didn't seem to matter which angle we saw this peak from, it always was giving us some peace. ✌️

Mount Monolith might be part of the most unique mountain ranges I've visited.

In the high northern Tundra these mountains weren't formed by your usual tectonic plates pushing up on each other, but by the volcanoes that erupted underneath ancient glaciers, freezing them in time as enormous black vertical walls, with column like pillars extending across the ridge lines.

This mountain is the tallest peak in the Tannheimer Alps, here seen from a narrow ridge path in the north east. It was a fabulous warm day with so many mountain flowers in full bloom and clouds forming/drifting between the passes and nearby peaks, later developing into a heavy thunderstorm (thankfully only when I was already descending again...)
