Die Menschen, mit denen ich täglich zu tun habe (beim #Aktivismus, bei ehrenamtlicher Hilfe, bei der Arbeit) wollen ständig #ChatGPT oder andere #LLMs verwenden und ich bin gefühlt der Einzige, der sich weigert/dagegen wehrt und ChatGPT kritisiert. Ich fühle mich dadurch einsam, verloren & unverstanden.

Mit diesen Menschen muss ich zusammenarbeiten, d.h. ich werde quasi gezwungen, auch ChatGPT zu verwenden. Ich kann mich nicht dagegen wehren, ich muss dann korrigieren, was ChatGPT ausspuckt.

Think of ChatGPT as a blurry JPEG of all the text on the Web. It retains much of the information on the Web, in the same way that a JPEG retains much of the information of a higher-resolution image, but, if you’re looking for an exact sequence of bits, you won’t find it; all you will ever get is an approximation. But, because the approximation is presented in the form of grammatical text, which ChatGPT excels at creating, it’s usually acceptable. You’re still looking at a blurry JPEG, but the blurriness occurs in a way that doesn’t make the picture as a whole look less sharp.

I wish the fans and occasional users of #ChatGPT would read this, and try to understand that the whole thing is snake oil to trick us into burning the planet even faster than we are - so #gates and #balmer can buy a 10th yacht.

I don't want to die in a flood.

#LLMs are a fucking scourge. Perceiving their training infrastructure as anything but a horrific all-consuming parasite destroying the internet (and wasting real-life resources at a grand scale) is delusional.

#ChatGPT isn't a fun toy or a useful tool, it's a _someone else's_ utility built with complete disregard for human creativity and craft, mixed with malicious intent masquerading as "progress", and should be treated as such.

I mean just the other day I saw these lumberjacks using chainsaws. CHAINSAWS. What's wrong with good old axes?

Next thing you know they'll be using industrial equipment and giving them fancy names like "Forestry Harvesters", and these guys who just sit around all day twiddling with joysticks will still have the nerve to call themselves lumberjacks!
