The robot apocalypse hasn't happened yet, but still I can't escape the feeling that something has gone horribly wrong... Cartoon for Dutch newspaper Trouw.

Some genius made his AI remind him to get milk in the morning and it used up his $20 account balance overnight because it kept checking if it was morning every 30 minutes. Lmao. “AI”

"The collapse of the #AI bubble is going to be ugly. Seven AI companies currently account for more than a third of the #StockMarket, and they endlessly pass around the same $100bn IOU.

AI is the asbestos in the walls of our technological society, stuffed there with wild abandon by a #finance sector and #tech monopolists run amok. We will be excavating it for a generation or more."

"“There is no alternative” is a cheap rhetorical sleight. It’s a demand dressed up as an observation. “There is no alternative” means: “Stop trying to think of an alternative.”

I’m a science-fiction writer – my job is to think of a dozen alternatives before breakfast."

Controlled taxonomy + LLM reasoning is a practical combo for procurement, retail, parts catalogs, and internal service catalogs—especially when names are inconsistent across sources. Meet AI formulas that actually do work: extraction, annotation, classification, categorization—directly in cells.

If your team lives in spreadsheets, meet AI formulas that actually do work: extraction, annotation, classification, categorization—directly in cells. Less swivel-chair, more throughput. matasoft.hr/QTrendControl/inde…

(Un)perplexed Spready can combine taxonomy range lookup with AI reasoning and web research. Web search inside the workflow can be a game-changer for sparse data. When internal categorization is missing, the model can research the product details on internet and still land on a valid category—when you allow it. matasoft.hr/QTrendControl/inde…

Spready supports multiple AI “routes”: Perplexity API functions for commercial-grade search-oriented AI, or ASK_LOCAL style functions to run models via Ollama for privacy and cost control. If you’ve ever tried to do taxonomy mapping with regex + VLOOKUP… you know why it breaks. LLMs in AI formula prompts help handle synonyms and messy naming, while the target taxonomy list keeps outputs controlled. matasoft.hr/QTrendControl/inde… #DataCleaning #LLM #Ecommerce #BusinessSoftware #Analytics #AI #DataQuality #ProductData #MDM #ProductTaxonomy #Analytics #Automation #Taxonomy #Spreadsheets #ArtificialIntelligence #DataExtraction #DataClassification #DataCategorization #SpreadsheetAI #AIFormula

Combining lookup lists + model reasoning is powerful: the taxonomy range acts like a controlled vocabulary, while the model resolves ambiguity from product names + existing internal categories. matasoft.hr/QTrendControl/inde…

Catalog mapping is a classic MDM headache: 2 taxonomies, 1 product list, many edge cases. This article shows an AI-assisted mapping approach that stays transparent and editable in a workbook. matasoft.hr/QTrendControl/inde…

The underrated business use case for artificial intelligence: AI inside formulas means you can fill down like any spreadsheet—no separate scripts, no one-off notebooks, no brittle glue. If you already have a taxonomy list in a sheet, you can pass it to the model as an input range and force “choose only from these values” behavior—great for keeping data classification outputs consistent. Balanced take: web search can improve classification when internal categories are blank/unclear, but it costs time—so Spready lets you decide when to use deep research vs. fast local-only reasoning. You can combine both for superior results. matasoft.hr/QTrendControl/inde…

Is AI Replacing God?

For many people, the idea that AI could ever take the place of #God might sound ridiculous: how could a machine that is obviously built by humans ever be mistaken as divine?

But when even the engineers behind AI begin to claim that it is sentient, and AI-induced spiritual delusions end otherwise-healthy marriages, then perhaps it is time to take this question seriously.

Because although there may never be cathedrals erected in honor of #ChatGPT, there will certainly be an increasing number of people who treat it with the reverence due a god.
