On the shores of Coniston, at the weekend, I ran into this blossoming horse chestnut tree, growing amongst moss-covered rocks, with a carpet of bluebells at its feet. There are just mad numbers of bluebells in the woods around here...

For #ThickTrunkTuesday I wanted to share this picture of this old and twisted #LiveOak Tree I saw yesterday at the Audubon Zoo in #NewOrleans #Louisiana. In spite of its gnarly appearance, this tree is well cared for, and even has a lightning arrestor system installed on it that grounds it to the earth using metal wires. Never saw that before on a tree…
