Got very excited by @matt demo of AccessKit integration in #GTK

AccessKit is a cross-platform abstraction for accessibility infrastructure written in Rust.

His work will bring a11y support for GTK on macOS and Windows as well as for the new accessibility architecture on Linux code-named "Newton".

GSoC is a program focused on bringing new contributors into open source software development. A number of long term GNOME developers are former GSoC interns, making the program a very valuable entry point for new members in our project.

As part of the contributor’s acceptance into GSoC they are expected to actively participate in the Community Bonding period (May 1 – 26). The Community Bonding period is intended to help prepare contributors to start contributing at full speed starting May 27.

The new contributors will soon get their blogs added to Planet GNOME making it easy for the GNOME community to get to know them and the projects that they will be working on.

Extension Manager is the app GNOME Extensions should be. It not only lets you see already-installed extensions and disable/enable them and access their settings like GNOME Extensions does but, get this… (are you sitting down?) it even lets you browse and install new extensions. I mean, I don’t know why you’d ever want to do that but, hey, I guess this is for all the freaks out there… :)

There’s a long-standing bug in Fedora (also in Fedora 40), where the sign-in screen is displayed at the wrong resolution (it doesn’t use the settings you have set in the Settings app).

So, for example, if you have 4K@2x set in your settings for your monitor, the sign-in screen will still display at a tiny 4K@1x.

To fix, download an app called GDM Settings from the Software app and press Display → Apply current display settings → Apply.

OMG, is this what I think it is? Is it a universal search trough the menu items in applications, like that old Ubuntu HUD thing!?

I've been wanting that ever since Ubuntu introduced it, and then unfortunately got rid of it for for me unknown reasons. It's so extremely useful and a huge time saver! "Where was that thing again?" "Does this app have…?" No more questions like that, no more hunting, just search!

I really hope this is coming to #Gnome soon! Where can I read more? @tbernard
