Every time I seclude myself away from the internet, I find a broken people. I find a father searching night and day for any job—even if it means clearing away the vast, crumbling ruins—just to provide some food for his young children. I find stray dogs that might find scraps on the road one day, only to go hungry for thirty more. I find an injured mother and wounded children.
I find hopes and dreams, drugged and displaced, sleeping on the roadside.

My new bookblog - it's called 'Quite Bookish', which in time is going to become the name of my book editing business.
I took another look at S*b*a*k as a potential place to host it, but recoiled. It's such an odd platform.
In the end, I've gone for tried and trusted WordPress with my own domain.
Very pleased (and surprised) to discover quitebookish.com was available.
My introductory post tells you what it's all about.

Been working on a blog post idea about how the 'old', real more simple web is still around, usable, fuck the big corpo garbage web, and so on. Been seeing other great pieces on it, gathering ideas, wanna reference them, etc. Wanna collect all of them and say something intelligent about it but wow it's gonna take a while to collect it all and write it up 😂 But be assured, it's on its way eventually. Hopefully sooner than later. I want it to be almost like a brief, simple roadmap for the real web.
📣 ATTENTION: Fellow writers and artists, this is what poorly hidden bigotry looks like. I've been shopping my chapbook manuscript around and this guy had a very timely response...🙄

i'm trying to get more practice writing fiction (which, turns out, is hard, if all you write every single day has to be succinct and anchored in a technical and political reality)
if anyone reading this feels like sharing feedback or their emotional reaction, i'm very welcoming of both ^^

I am one of the nearly 10,000 authors contributing our names to Don't Steal This Book; a protest launched today at the London Book Fair.
If AI developers wish to use our work in their software they can ask us for permission. If we agree, they can pay us to license it on clearly defined terms.
This is how copyright operates.
Tech companies ignoring copyright is theft. For the UK government to even consider allowing this to continue is a disgrace.

Amazon is excluding spicy romance & LGBTQ books from the affiliates program. It's Bezos obeying the fascists in advance. And it highlights how, with the flip of a switch, they can easily shadow-ban whatever books they want.
I'm removing all my Amazon affiliate links & will deprioritize Amazon links
There I was, scanning the news with my mocha. It was full of the Iran war.
Or is it still pre-emptive strikes?
