This is a story about how corrections fail to travel in spaces where credentialed voices move faster than accuracy checks. When a misread gets endorsed, restacked, and cited by thoughtful people who trusted the summary rather than reading the source, it stops being a misread. It becomes the record. The accurate version of Wang & Zhang is more interesting than the zone framework. Partnership orientation — a relational mindset, is the lever. Vigilance is more powerful than offloading and more underdeveloped. Efficiency orientation, counterintuitively, amplifies critical thinking rather than suppressing it. The relationship between offloading and learning is nonlinear, situational, and context-dependent ( not a ladder you climb).

12 years ago, everyone was making fun of Americans for that poll that 1/4 of surveyed people said "the sun goes around the Earth" instead of "the Earth goes around the sun". I didn't think the pile-on was appropriate for a bunch of reasons (e.g. both answers are wrong), but I also didn't like it because most people can't explain WHY we know that Earth is the one doing most of the movement.

I'm now in a position to teach this as part of a class. First I got my class to brainstorm a few reasons why one might believe in Geocentrism or Heliocentrism. They didn't come up with too much, but I was really happy about the point about "we don't feel the movement". (1/2)
