Aya, alongside @aseelfromgz, volunteers every week to help run our Gaza Verified verification calls while she is, herself, facing Israel’s ongoing genocide in Palestine.

Yesterday was my birthday… Three whole years I lived amidst war, famine, and unbearable horrors.
Three years of fear, loss, and hunger, and of trying to survive every day in a world collapsing around us.
Even if it was "just a boost" at some moment. We did this all together.
Of course, #GazaVerified deserves a documentary (isn't here anybody with the spoons to do this?). The project came really in the right moment and allowed to channel a lot of MutualAid to people in need while locking the scammers out. Totally awesome accomplishment that made the world a little less bad.
This was such a group effort. We couldn’t have done it without an international group of volunteers led by @riverbirchtree organising on Signal and without those of you on the fediverse who helped fund her scholarship to Milan.
After four continuous hours of hand washing… my heart feels like it’s breaking from exhaustion. My hands hurt, my back can barely handle it anymore, and even the cold water feels easier than the helplessness we live with every day. 💔 🤍🇵🇸

Today, after great effort and exhaustion, Omar received his second semester certificate with a grade of 97. Since the war began, I kept searching for a school, but each time displacement interrupted his education. Last year he asked why he must leave school to seek safety.
