I really wish some folks who post their photography here, and whose work I admire, would take the time to write ALT text. I know visual artists can find it difficult, but it's really not. Once the effort is made, it does become easier. Nobody says you have to be good at it, but it does show that you want to be part of this Mastodon community. Also, I pretty much guarantee that your work will be seen and appreciated by more people here.

RE: mastodon.cupertino.social/@ste…

What I’d like to create is a community of people who value civil exchange, but without the fanboysm. If Apple does something we don't like, we need to be free to say so and discuss it. If they do something we like, great!

That way - who knows? - maybe we can bring people over to the Fediverse who are currently stuck on toxic social platforms simply because they don't want to miss out on news, info, or conversations with other enthusiasts. After all, the Fediverse is already home to brilliant minds like Lisa Melton - @lisamelton and Jen Simmons - @jensimmons - people who share our passion for Apple just as much as they value the freedom of a decentralized web.

I’ll be opening the doors to this instance very soon.

I can't do this alone; I can only do it with the help of all the wonderful people populating the Fediverse who want to shake off algorithmic hate and build something beautiful.
Something human.

thecurrent.org/ is streaming music in support of #Minnesota and the general strike all day. I love my local public radio station - and if you have a web connection, you can stream it to your laptops, too.

Example of what is being played that commercial radio conglomerates wouldn't? Songs like Jesse Welles, Good vs Evil

Lots of Green Day, too.

It was great having a video call with @josschuurmans - nice to meet you! We chatted for almost two hours about open source.

Here are some of the tools we discussed that could also benefit our Mastodon community (I've mentioned them before, but here they are again):

FediAlgo, a fully customizable timeline algorithm that frees you from the tyranny of reverse chronological order
github.com/michelcrypt4d4mus/f…

Fediway, a new recommendation engine for Mastodon that aims to replace the main feed for those who prefer a more algorithmic approach
github.com/fediway/fediway

Plausible, cookieless analytics
github.com/plausible/analytics

Sill, monitors your Bluesky and Mastodon feeds to find the most popular links in your network
github.com/TylerFisher/sill
sill.social

I'm always eager to try new apps, tools, and open source software - there's an app for everything! :blobwink:
