Front on shot, slightly out of focus of a moth on a stick. Its wings are pointed vertically in a V shape above its thorax. Its wings are mottled yellow, but its head and thorax and very bright, vivid yellow and furry. It has two compound eyes close together either side of two palps, and two yellow feathered antennae sweep backwards from its head. Its thin grey legs grip a blue lolly stick.

A red admiral butterfly hitched a ride on me during my morning walk. She hopped on at about King and Bay heading west and got off around Spadina and Dundas heading north. Hope she found what she was looking for -- I'd hate to be the wrong bus.

When I was about to leave the house last Saturday, I suddenly spotted this #beetle in the front garden, thinking it was a bee first. I ran back inside and grabbed the camera (because Bienstag, obviously!). 😂 I've never seen this beetle before in my life! It was very windy that day and the #oxeyeDaisy was swaying in the wind. This is the best shot I managed to get. Dunno what this bee beetle was doing here. I read that it's often found in mountainous areas. Maybe it's as bad at navigating as I am? 🤷‍♀️

These little furry fuckers for #InsectSaturday 🪲

Around 9 pm, it is as if someone shouts "RELEASE THE HOUNDS!" and dozens of June beetles descend from the skies and doodle through the garden like drunk assholes. They're everywhere, especially all over my head and body. I hate them with a passion now. I'm all for creepy-crawlies and love to watch them, but not in my personal space, please.

The chickens, however, love them. From 9 to 10 pm, they gallop and jump through the run, chasing beetles like sky raisins. 😂

Two June beetles (Amphimallon solstitiale) mating on a vertical dark fence pole in a natural outdoor setting. A Giant Dark Horsefly - Tabanus sudeticus, the largest fly in Europe
This was sat on a car in the rain, fortunately this one is a male, only the females bite and only when they need the extra protein to create eggs, the rest of the year like the male pictured the female feeds mainly on nectar.
