A beautiful summer evening in Kent, England. There are reeds, starting green at the base and then yellowy pink towards the top, with a river snaking through. The evening sky is blended from blue to salmon pink to mellow orange then yellow and finally light blue. It looks idyllic, and serene.

On wet sand with a little white foam scattered on it, just where the ocean water has receded, a brown seagull facing away from the camera is half lit by low bright sunlight. We see its back and head and pink feet as it stands still. To its left side, opposite the sunlight, there is a stretched profile shadow of the bird, dark on the wet sand and about three times longer than the bird is tall. The wet sand to the right and in front of the bird is wetter and reflecting some pale blue of the sky above.

This week, I went to Schönau am Königsee (close to Berchtesgaden) for a 5 day #hiking trip. Weather was a bit unpredictable, but last Sunday was great and we had an amazing hike up to Grünstein and Archenkanzel. It was quite an extensive hike (by my standards), but there were so many great sights!
One of those I have to share directly: A view of the Watzmann - with its highest peak 2713 m above sea. I took plenty of images and have many more to edit (& share 😉 )

Das Foto wirkt sehr dramatisch und atmosphärisch. Zu sehen ist eine weite Landschaft mit einer schmalen Straße, die sich durch grüne Felder bis zum Horizont zieht. Im Mittelpunkt steht ein einzelner Baum, der nahe der Straßenkante steht und fast silhouettenhaft erscheint. Der Himmel dominiert das Bild: Dunkle, schwere Wolken türmen sich bedrohlich auf und bedecken einen Großteil des Himmels. Gleichzeitig bricht in der Mitte helles Sonnenlicht durch die Wolken und erzeugt einen starken Kontrast zwischen Licht und Schatten. Einige blaue Himmelsstücke sind sichtbar, besonders auf der rechten Seite, was Hoffnung oder einen Wetterumschwung andeutet. Die Stimmung des Bildes ist intensiv und fast filmisch – eine Mischung aus Ruhe, Naturgewalt und Dramatik. Die Perspektive der Straße zieht den Blick in die Ferne und verstärkt das Gefühl von Weite und Einsamkeit. Insgesamt erinnert das Foto an einen Moment kurz vor oder nach einem Gewitter.
