She looks so innocent.
Don't let her fool you.
She is an instigator.
For sure.
Her pal called her on the phone. She could hear his voice and came running from the other side of the house. It's good that one of us can hear a pin drop a mile away.
She and her pal hatched a plan.
They miss each other.
He will ask to sit outside his room for a bit tomorrow after breakfast. Summer might be taking a walk in the same neighborhood.
It would be pretty sweet if they connected.
Little do they know that I already got permission from his doctor. Keeping that tidbit of information to myself.
It sounds like all treatment plans for my husband are on hold until he is infection free. The soonest he can transfer to another hospital or come home will be sometime next week.

Yesterday a box arrived in the mail for Summer.
It was full of her favorite kibble, a few treats and a new throwing disc. We finally got the box opened this morning.

Lots of throwing and fetching happened so good exercise was accomplished.

Sometimes fostering feels like volunteering to break your own heart. Today this sleepy little goofball heads off to his forever home. Summer really needs her daily run so I've been getting up at daybreak to hit the trail. I figure her needs are just as important as ours. She benefits from this three mile, or so, adventure in so many ways. Her pal is feeling low energy right now so wearing her out early makes for a relaxed rest of the day.
We are hoping for enough sunshine to give our garden a boost. Summer says Flower Power! Might be overly optimistic.
The trail was quiet.
Summer is literally the picture of happiness.
I didn't let her drive again but she never gives up asking.

We were adventuring earlier than usual today.
Everyone was awake so we launched into the foggy drizzle with a skip in our step.
I thought we might have the trail to ourselves but we encountered a federal wildlife employee who wanted to verify that Summer was truly under voice control. If I had seen him first she would have been on leash. She didn't even give him a bark and when I asked her to sit she sat right on my feet and stayed until I gave her the ok to get up. Inspection passed we carried on our way. Summer was a really good girl. I think he was concerned that she might run in front of his truck on the narrow trail.
We hurried along and finished our walk in record time.
Well record time for us.

I woke up to a Summer alarm shortly after daybreak. I promised a beach adventure this morning and a promise is a promise.
She waited for me to brew a cup of coffee, brought me a hat, and we hit the road.
It has been at least a week since our last beach adventure.
Summer was excited.
She wonders if she can let it all hang out.
I laughed.
We rolled the windows down and sang along with Joy to the World to set the mood.

After dinner we play.
All of us together.
This is our opportunity to engage in a little loving mayhem. Treats are dispensed with creative and joyful ingenuity.
We started with some small jerky treats flying through the air with the greatest of ease. Summer plucks them, before they fall, while we cheer her for her skills.
She brings her pal a toy which he scoots around with his feet. Summer decides the tease is too much so she grabs the toy to toss out of the fray.
I happened to catch both items in the air.
I asked Summer how cool is that?
She gave me a look because the cool part was being part of the action.
I shouldn't have to ask.
That's my story for tonight and I'm sticking to it.
A little truth in the ocean of untruths that overwhelm on social media.
Not a viral truth but truth all the same.
We need more truths.
