#PPOD: Portrait of comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko in natural color. This image was taken with the OSIRIS NAC camera on ESA's Rosetta mission on 5 August 2014 from a range of 123 kilometers. Originating in the Kuiper Belt, 67P is a Jupiter-family comet with an orbital period of 6.45 years and will reach its next perihelion in 2028. A huge sigh of relief: I've finally managed to explain moss sex in a way that I hope is generally understandable. Not easy because there are only complicated technical terms for some stuff. Moss is generally neglected in all languages I know. So I have to find analogies ... We should have a moss sex cartoon. 😁

Back when this guy was last in office, and Covid was unchecked and data around it was being censored, and yet people were dying...I created this visualization to help communicate how many were dying...to communicate how big 400,000 deaths are: kristinhenry.github.io/howBig/

#PPOD: This view from NASA's Cassini spacecraft shows a wave structure in Saturn's rings known as the Janus 2:1 spiral density wave. As a result of the same process that creates spiral galaxies, spiral density waves in Saturn's rings are much more tightly wound. In this case, every second wave crest is the same spiral arm that has encircled the entire planet multiple times. Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/Space Science Institute/CICLOPS

Overheard at a conference about #AI in #Medicine:

Speaker: "I hear neurologists prefer we say that generative AI systems 'confabulate' and not that they 'hallucinate'."

Neurologist [shouting from the back of the room]: "CORRECT!"
