This is a black and white photo in landscape format of a busy airport taxiway surrounded by fog with a long line of aircraft waiting to takeoff. JFK, New York (2011).

One third of the way to the right of the left edge of the photo is a long solid line stretching along the centre of the taxiway and away from the camera. A short distance to the right of the centre line (about ten cm) is a line of lights inset into the tarmac, spaced every few metres. About ten metres to the left and right of the centre line are two parallel solid lines marking the edge of the taxiway, one either side, though the tarmac continues for a distance of another five or ten metres beyond. Further to the right is a wide grass area before a small portion of a parallel runway is in view. Surrounding this scene is a bright, white, morning fog with a visibility of no more than five hundred metres. In front of the camera is a row of five aircraft on the taxiway waiting for their turn to take off. The closest aircraft is about ten metres from the camera, is a Boeing 737 narrow body, shorthaul aircraft with two jet engines slung under the wings and small winglets on the wingtips. Beyond the queue of aircraft is a further larger aircraft, about five hundred metres away, at right angles to the taxiway and is on the runway and starting its takeoff roll, this aircraft is partially obscured by the fog. Above and beyond is filled with a large body of bright, morning fog.
