Had an excellent moth trap at Bath City Farm yesterday. I'll post photos of the moths tomorrow, but first here's some of the non-moths we caught. Most excitingly, a Bombardier Beetle, the first time I've ever seen one! This uncommon beetle famously ejects a noxious spray around 100 degrees C as a defensive mechanism. Beaut beetle which I noticed flying and which then landed in the grass at my feet. Managed to get some reasonable shots as it moved quite slowly and let me get quite close before flying off. Seen at Glen Erin near Bowen, Qld. Canon R10 and RF100-400 lens. Hand held, natural light. ID-ed on iNaturalist as Rhipicera mystacina.
