📷 This old barbershop downtown was owned and run by generations of the one family until COVID closed it for good.
The shop sits empty on a large corner lot, adjacent to a very old neighborhood. Rental apartments and luxury condos are is being built everywhere nearby. A couple duplexes would fit on the lot, and I expect to see them next time I drive by.
📷 Surveying storm damage in a downtown neighborhood and stopped to talk to a guy breaking down fallen limbs with a chainsaw. CHOPPER barked, chainsaw guy noticed me and shouted a hello.
Were his neighbors okay? I wondered. A gigantic oak had crushed the vintage bungalow next door. He told me they were out of town during the storm and are fine. "Lucky," he said.
Boomer was sniffing around my feet by this time. I managed a shot while he was trotting down an incline towards me as Dad laughed, "He doesn't bite!"
I offered my fist to sniff, Chopper approved, so i gave his head a few scritches. ❤️

📷 Met "Sweet Freddy" in the Ingles parking lot. Know his Mom, but never met her baby.
Freddy's a Shih-Tzu/Poodle, ten years old, and very much a Momma's boy. ❤️

📷 Elliot and his humans were on their way to Charleston from Tennessee this morning. There was a treat involved in the making of this picture. 😉

📷 Spotted along the freeway a few minutes ago, volunteers from Lawrenceville, GA taking a break on their way to Asheville with Gatorade and water.
📷 Was thoroughly Whataburgered this afternoon. My first time. Were they any good? I'll share some thoughts tonight. x
📷 Waffle House was open the first 24 hours after #Helene hit but closed when they ran out of food. Supply chains in the area have slowed to a crawl or stopped for many vendors, and there is a domino effect.
📷 One good deed.
The man overheard inside Circle K that the owner of a car outside needed a jump start. She ran out of gas in that spot Friday night, and the battery died trying to start it. She left details with a store manager and Sunday night, when the gas began to flow, they sent a text.
He pulled his truck up, jump-started the car and filled it up for her, also an elder.
