#Netflix had devolved to rerun of old or b movies, weird low-budget sci-fi and uninteresting in-house series that get cancelled after the first season. The selection was especially bad in Finland, much worse than in other regions. The price hikes weren't the actual straw that broke the camel's back here, but it did not help either. Finally pulled the trigger, should have done so years ago.

Code 8 Part II (2024) isn’t a bad movie, but it isn’t great either. I liked the first one and was surprised they decided to do a sequel.

The series takes the ideas of X-Men and strips the mutants of their colorful Spandex and inserts them into the real world.

The robots are still iconic, but they take backseat to some Boston Dynamics inspired robotic dogs.

The corruption in the police force trope is in high gear with this movie.

There were a couple of really great sequences in the movie. One using extreme slow motion for full effect and it turned out great.

Rated 6 out of 10.

Did Netflix use generative AI images to depict a real person in a true-crime documentary? If so, Futurism writes, “This is tinkering with the fabric of reality itself to manipulate a true story that actually happened.” https://flip.it/kDe-sN

I have been recommending #TurningPoint on #Netflix to everyone: https://www.netflix.com/us/title/81614129?s=i&trkid=14751296&vlang=en&clip=81760325

I also wonder if everyone should watch the 1983 movie #TheDayAfter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aG-e52yAxfs

It reportedly deeply affected #RonaldReagan that year.

It was a big year, there was a lot going on.

#Blockbuster used to have a disc by mail service to compete with #Netflix and you could return a mailed movie to the store and exchange it for something in stock. I got to visit a bunch of new locations as the stores started closing, like falling dominoes #memories

File this under "things we never knew we wanted until we discovered we couldn't have them." David Lynch pitched an animated project called "Snootworld" to Netflix, but was rejected. He started working on the script 20 years ago with Caroline Thompson, writer of "The Nightmare Before Christmas," "Edward Scissorhands" and 1991's "The Addams Family." Here's what the pair told Deadline.
