Just like many other social media corporations #Reddit is planning to require biometric / ID verification* of some users.

To get ahead of this, I have prepared an alternative for everyone :)

πŸŽ‰ ...and just launched our rapidly growing #DeMeta Reddit community on a journey into the #Fediverse!

People can now also DeMeta on #Lemmy:

@DeMeta

RE: mastodon.bsd.cafe/@announcemen…

@madeindex sorry, I didn't follow the Lemmy link. My bad.

I like the idea, but honestly, I found Lemmy somewhat frustrating.

FYI, if you haven't already seen it:

RE: mastodon.bsd.cafe/@stefano/116…

@madeindex

Today, we're introducing three things.

The first one is a forum. A real forum - with categories, threads, and actual conversations that don't disappear in a timeline after six minutes.

The second is a Fediverse platform. Fully federated, ActivityPub-native. Your posts go out, the world's posts come in. No walled gardens, no algorithms, no tricks.

The third is a Bar. A place to sit down, talk to strangers who happen to care about the same weird things you do, and stay as long as you want.

A forum. A Fediverse platform. A bar.

Are you getting it?
These are not three separate things. This is one thing.

And we're calling it Billboard.

billboard.bsd.cafe

And no, we checked the calendar. We know. This is not an April Fools' joke.

We're just really bad at timing.

FYI, on Lemmy putting a ! In front of a community name brings people who click on it to that community from their own instance, so they can easily subscribe, like this: !DeMeta@lemmy.world
in reply to ProdigalFrog

@ProdigalFrog Haha thank you for the advice, so when I post on lemmy and mention the community i don't write c/DeMeta I write !DeMeta@lemmy.world ?

Or on Mastodon? !DeMeta@lemmy.world doesn't display as a clickable link right?

I was also confused why the message I wrote here about the community was suddenly showing up on lemmy in the community. Is that what happens when you use @...community.lemmy?

Correct! On my end !DeMeta@lemmy.world shows up as a clickable link that takes me there using my own instance. You can see how that looks here.

I was also confused why the message I wrote here about the community was suddenly showing up on lemmy in the community. Is that what happens when you use @…community.lemmy?

I believe the reason it showed up here on Lemmy is from adding #DeMeta in your post, which will automatically crosspost it to a lemmy community that's using the same name.
