People like what is closest to what they are already using. #Mastodon is laid gratuitously different in terms of buttons to push and links to click. People who left #Twitter earlier didn't like that and left.
The crowds are different.
The prime content providers are staying on #X. Some are going to #BlueSky. Some are reposting here with #bots
Then there is the ridiculous size limit on toots on many servers
The botsin.space Mastodon server has been a huge part of the fediverse, and while it's sad it's being retired, I trust that the creative botmaking community will continue to thrive.

In an age of #fake news, #propaganda, #maga, #Twitter #bots and Russian #troll factories, we actually need trustworthy journalism. I must once again explicitly point out that the principle of "trust nobody" does not mean no longer believing official sources and only consuming unfiltered news from Russian-controlled #Telegram channels and basing your world view on them.
