Oregon sweet cherry growers produced a beautiful crop but are calling this year a disaster.
Due to the migrant labor shortage and problems with packing plants, their cherries may not reach the market.

Yesterday's 12 mile hike included 6 miles on the shoulder of highway 101, but Strawberry Hill was on the way and was begging to be explored! I spent a good hour there watching the harbor seals and the pelicans. Here are a few of my favorite shots.

This new camera continues to be the best investment ever!
Spotted these Barn Swallow chicks in Seal Rock.

Also, I think I'm a birder now?

Just a random "side of the road" phone shot, and yet it's stunning... because everything in #Oregon seems to be stunning. Why is this state so consistently gorgeous???

Hey #Portland there's a guy trying to shoot homeless people in your area. It's rare that a case like this gets so much media coverage, such solid pictures of the attacker AND a $2500 bounty.

Hope y'all locate him:

📍 1300 & 1600 block of Schmeer Road
📍 3500 block of North Victory Blvd.

This man is wanted for questioning after a series of unprovoked shootings targeting homeless people.

Despite a $1.3 billion investment that Portland said would improve the safety of homeless people, deaths in Multnomah County have quadrupled — from 113 in 2019 to more than 450 in 2023.

#Oregon just became the first state to end private equity and corporate control of doctor and clinical practices.

This is huge. I do wish California and other states would follow suit, but the corporate money is so entrenched in politics here that it would take a miracle for it to happen.
