Well, this seems to be an interesting and unexpected big deal: a new paper suggests that light can evaporate water without actually needing to heat the water up first. And it could sort out a few problems in existing cloud physics:

How light can vaporize water without the need for heat
MIT researchers discovered that light can cause evaporation of water from a surface without the need for heat. This “photomolecular effect” could be important for understanding climate change and for improving some industrial processes.MIT News | Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Scientists from around the world are becoming increasingly alarmed by mass coral bleaching events caused by record-breaking ocean water temperatures. Water found to be as warm as a hot tub off the coast of Florida last year has moved to the southern hemisphere, infecting the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, as well as coral in coastlines in Brazil, Tanzania and the Red Sea. The BBC has more on the threat to marine life.

15/52 Puddle Sunset
I really enjoy using this lens, changing the perspective, playing with the light. The other day, with the influence of desert sandstorms still visible in the sky, I went for a short walk in the beginning of sunset. This small puddle made me think of this week's challenge - water.
