We are making great progress on our new app!
Tonight we finished the compose flow, notifications, posts and are wrapping up the settings screens.
We are prioritizing core features so we can ship sooner, with features like Collections and Stories coming later this summer.
pixelfed.social registration is closed until further notice
we will open registrations once we ship some new autospam detection measures to handle the influx of spammers and bad actors.
pixelfed admins: I suggest you close registrations, or use curated onboarding mode until these updates ship next week.
Did you know Loops was originally a Pixelfed feature from early 2019?
When we redesigned the webUI in 2020, it was removed.
Then in 2024, we revived the idea, but spun it out as a separate project.
Why? To keep Pixelfed photo-focused!

every page, screen and API endpoint is getting federation, performance and network improvements, and every known bug is getting fixed.

To improve Pixelfed federation, I've been building a reusable Laravel Package (laravel-activitypub).
Before I integrate it into Pixelfed, I need to test it and catch production bugs, so I created a single user photo sharing app as a demo
It's called Shutter. You can only upload one photo at a time, no comments, likes or shares, it's just a demo app
That being said, I love the simple design, and it may influence the next Pixelfed webUI redesign 🤔
I will be testing it soon!
Make platforms easy for everyone, and document them with simple knowledge bases or help centers.
It may be a boring topic, but this is how we go mainstream by making your platforms easy to navigate and understand.

This week we had some heavy showers after a long period of drought. For me this was a signal to go out the next morning before sunrise. This is the best time to find fog further into the year. While I was photograpfing I suddenly hear some cracking of branches behind me. Immediatly I turned around too see what it could be. Luckely it just was a highland cow wolking true the field with branches. I smiled and took this photo

One of the killer features from @HolosSocial is for me, that you can use your own domain.
This means, as a band, author etc you can promote everywhere your handle with @name@my_own_domain.tld
This is so perfect. This means your handle will still be correct if the instance you chose in the beginning is not alive anymore.
I would love to see this feature in #Mastodon, #Pixelfed #loops #peertube and the #bridge
