This is one plugin that I wish was available for Linux.

Looks like I can use UADx plugins now. They have some GUI related crashes, like the Arturia plugins, but when they are dialed in, you don't need the GUIs anyway - so I'll live with that. This has been fixed in Wine 11, but those fixes has not yet come to Proton/Wine-cachyos, so I'll have to wait.
Solution to install: Get UA Connect on your Linux and a PC, install everything on the PC, move files to your wine-folder and activate the plugins in UA connect through wine.
These are truly great times for Linux audio. I had been searching for a good granular effect plugin for a long time. And now there are two of them: GRN from FRCTL and Angels from Sequins. Since Angels is too overpriced for me, I'm sticking with GRN. It implements all the features I want very well.

Let's be honest. I made a lot of mistakes while trying to find the right Linux distribution. You don't have to do that.
So I decided to make a (not so) small trip down memory-lane, and share all the mistakes I made while searching for my distro of choice and what I would advice other people to do.
TLDR: Check the screenshot of my advice for new distro explorers.

BlueARP Coming to Linux:
kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.p…
"Yep, according to my plans, I hope to release BlueARP for Linux in 2026. The 1st format to implement will be CLAP... This requires lots of manual work, cause I use older version of IPlug (& highly modified). They already added CLAP support to the latest iPlug2, but I can't use it directly, I have to incorporate that code malually.
But that's all doable, I don't see any 'show-stopper' things, only that it will take some time"
This just in......
Shortcircuit-XT, the awesome open source sampler that many of us have been waiting years for, has just been released as a BETA!!
It is no longer an Alpha!! It's time to start testing and reporting bugs!!!!!

Sampler: #Soundbox by Audiomodern
Soundbox can be used as a player engine for any Soundbox Instrument without requiring activation via a license key.
To unlock the Sample & Mapping Editor in the Soundbox and import your own sounds, you must purchase a license key. The license key is obtained by purchasing an #Audiomodern Soundbox instrument.
Costs at least €29, or you buy one of the bundles.

Just installed Cable, a VERY straightforward and well-behaved (so far) Pipewire configurator. As a person who has spent too much time trying to figure out where to put my pipewire config files, I highly recommend this neat little tool!

This sound comes from the early days.
More than 10 years ago I recorded some tracks (full of mistakes) for a demo postrock album. 'Citizen of Concrete' was one of the first takes.
I recently stumbled upon some video footage from that time... and I now finally figured out how to edit it more properly in Reaper DAW on Linux.
(Tried with Shotcut and OpenShot first but couldn't find my way in it.)

Another surprise: During the plate-search I also found a suitable solution for a reflection/room sound, where the Precision Reflection Engine has been my go-to for years, and somehow became the sound of "my room" (since I never had live room for recording).
The solution is the ACM530X1 from ACMT with Damp on 10 and Time on 0.5. I bought it with their 500 Bundle, and I'm so happy with this buy. The 500-series plugins is all over my low-latency template.

Don't know why I missed Vital Synth is native Linux (there is a free tier with the synth and a smaller amount of presets to get started). It's even on Linuxdaw.org.

#Reaper may not be an open source DAW,
but show me another #DAW with such a large community that provides so many plugins and add-ons for a DAW.
Today I discovered some new ones that I didn't know before.

I have had trouble finding the right plate reverb for my low-latency template. I'm used to the UAD 140 EMT or Super/Little Plate from Soundtoys, so I always have this very warm plate sound in mind, which I really couldn't find in all the plugins I had.
The solution came from a different place than expected, the TENSjr from Klanghelm, installed as a Windows plugin in Wine, and run through Yabridge. It have this Warm/Bright slider which did the trick!

So I finally got some new hardware for my homestudio.
I switched to a #Focusrite Clarett+ 8Pre USB audio interface. So far things are running really smooth. The "ALSA Scarlett Control Panel" (github.com/geoffreybennett/als…) is an amazing piece of software. It allows me to control the internal mixer, and all other features, I otherwise wouldn't have any access to. (1/3)

Here's a screenshot of my current setup for doing cymatics. I'm using Carla as a plugin host and using two LSP plugins, one equalizer and one mixer.
The equalizer I use to cut higher frequencies, because my sub bass loudspeaker can't really handle them. I also boost lower frequencies if they are too low.
The mixer I use to put stereo into mono, since it's only one speaker.
The Model D (Grand Piano) of the free Numa Player from Studiologic, is a really great sounding piano plugin (and more) - way better than most stock plugins.
And it's Linux Native, yay! (Scroll down to downloads to see the Linux download)
I don't know if many of you remember Digg or not. It was the premier face of the internet....until it died. Reddit was the competitor that replaced it.

Perhaps there are developers here who could contribute to the further development of iPlug2 so that we will soon have more native Linux VST/CLAP plugins.

A few years ago, our band switched to using only open-source software to record and produce our music. I've been sharing videos about our experience recently.
Open source isn't the "cheap" option anymore. It's the professional option. 😁

So, my client wants the mix a little "fresher". Sounds like #mastering voodoo #EQ to me!
Several routes to go… play with the simple EQs on the master bus with of #Mixbus (10 Pro). Use #Fabfilter, the go-to tool for all kinds of natural-sounding EQing. Or try something else?
So I went to #Linuxdaw.org to check what's out there. Found #Korneff #SitralKlangfilter …
It's really something to be quite uncertain about, doing A/B tests with +2dB somethings…
One thing is certain though, Korneff is a hungry beef on the CPU.
