Niche #LinuxAudio question: has anyone ever had any success getting the #Boss IR loader software to run on Bottles or Wine?
This convolution plugin Aava looks interesting - up to 4 IRs at once and you can modulate parameters of each, morph between them, turn on key tracking and/or tempo sync...
Available on the 3 typical desktop OSes so it gets the #LinuxAudio hashtag.

I love the feeling of licking a tech problem - in this case, audio disappeared from Kdenlive (Linux video editor)
I installed a virtual audio patchbay and discovered it was going to the wrong device. Now fixed.
I knew my knowledge of audio routing was deficient, and now I'm slightly better armed for future problems.
(The solution, by the way, was to find which audio systems I was using (inxi -xA pointed me to Pipewire), then install qpwgraph and drag the Kdenlive outputs to my main audio interface inputs.)
Thanks for the information. πΉ

Looks like Firefly Synth II is a lot less of a resource hog.
(edit) I'm gonna hedge because I'm on a faster system now and it does seem to be quite patch dependent.
On the clear upside, there's at least one oscillator in there I don't recognise from anywhere else.
If I get around to it, I'll do a quick comparison tonight with Mosyl Audio's #SampleManager, which I bought just the day before yesterday. Unfortunately, there's no trial version of SampleManager.

If an audio interface shows up as a device in Alsamixer but not in Pavu/Helvum/Bitwig.

Dear Friends of ranting, venting and letting off steam power. Toot, Toot!
Managed to download a much used package. Will now try another. I am using #EasyOS 7.2.3 fresh install as I was forced into a corner as the update did not go as easily as I would have liked.
Just to let you know it takes a while to get used to any #LinuxAudio and I have done my fill of distro hopping and hoping to stick with just a few on USB sticks.
Wishing you all well
Good news: #linuxaudio
I asked Push and Groove if their FILTRONIX plugin will also be available for Linux.

Ok, just purchased a simple dedicated laptop (7730U with 16GB of RAM and 512GB SSD) to do - finally and again - some testing with Linux.
I would like to run Bitwig Studio at first and perhaps Reaper as well. Most lightweight would be nice to try as also a version with some more dedicated apps and a more streamlined user experience.
I was thinking of Mint / Ubuntu - but perhaps there better alternatives nowadays? Does anyone (in my feed perhaps) has some tips?

These plugins have been through a couple of beta versions already, and is now installing, loading and running with no issues on my CachyOS system.
You can reach the developer in mail if something isn't working.
Since it works really well opening and mixing old Ableton projects in Wine, it was time to activate Ableton.
Platform: Windows? Yeah, right!
I switched to the normal Wine version for this, since Arturia plugins work best that way. No mouse offset (only in Yabridge).
The Fabfilter line-up runs smoothly also!
Ableton Live (11) in Wine with plugins from Plugin Alliance, Native Instruments, Fabfilter and more.
I haven't tried WineASIO, and so far I don't need it, since I don't need to record anything, which means latency is no issue.
It's been such a pleasure listening back to my old sound designs for the theatre. I often work in between traditional sound design and composition, and I'm more interested in the room of the space(s) we work (we are a site specific theatre).
This is the first project I have worked on so far. Still not translated to different listening environments, but it gives a picture of how I might work. This is created using only found sounds and effects.
Wooow, this is my kind of audio device: The Focusrite ISA C8X! I have a hardware ISA in my rack, and have always loved the sound! 2 additional ISA Preamps and plenty in/outs? Yes please!
