Niche #LinuxAudio question: has anyone ever had any success getting the #Boss IR loader software to run on Bottles or Wine?

#BossIR200 #BossIR2 #BossPedals

This convolution plugin Aava looks interesting - up to 4 IRs at once and you can modulate parameters of each, morph between them, turn on key tracking and/or tempo sync...

Available on the 3 typical desktop OSes so it gets the #LinuxAudio hashtag.

I love the feeling of licking a tech problem - in this case, audio disappeared from Kdenlive (Linux video editor)

I installed a virtual audio patchbay and discovered it was going to the wrong device. Now fixed.

I knew my knowledge of audio routing was deficient, and now I'm slightly better armed for future problems.

(The solution, by the way, was to find which audio systems I was using (inxi -xA pointed me to Pipewire), then install qpwgraph and drag the Kdenlive outputs to my main audio interface inputs.)

Looks like Firefly Synth II is a lot less of a resource hog.

(edit) I'm gonna hedge because I'm on a faster system now and it does seem to be quite patch dependent.

On the clear upside, there's at least one oscillator in there I don't recognise from anywhere else.

If I get around to it, I'll do a quick comparison tonight with Mosyl Audio's #SampleManager, which I bought just the day before yesterday. Unfortunately, there's no trial version of SampleManager.

#LinuxAudio (and #Mac and #Windows) #Sampler folk: #MylarMelodies has just posted a demo video of #SampleScout in action. It will convert for a variety of hardware, or drag and drop to a DAW. It’s US$29, but looks very, very capable: youtu.be/W5AdeSH8wbw

Since search engines doesn’t work in 2026, I’m asking here for you nice #LinuxAudio people.

If an audio interface shows up as a device in Alsamixer but not in Pavu/Helvum/Bitwig.

Is there anything I can do about it?

(It’s an old digital Roland mixer)

RE: mastodon.social/@mouseplugins/…

Right now you can get the @mouseplugins Smith Island EQ for free, and there is also a store-wide sale if you're curious of the other Mouse Plugins Native Linux line of plugins.

You can also get the (Pultec-style) trick free: mouseplugins.com/en/products/t…

Just copy-paste the plugin format you like into your plugin folder, and you're rolling.

Dear Friends of ranting, venting and letting off steam power. Toot, Toot!

Managed to download a much used package. Will now try another. I am using #EasyOS 7.2.3 fresh install as I was forced into a corner as the update did not go as easily as I would have liked.

Just to let you know it takes a while to get used to any #LinuxAudio and I have done my fill of distro hopping and hoping to stick with just a few on USB sticks.

Wishing you all well :agummyhug:

Good news: #linuxaudio

I asked Push and Groove if their FILTRONIX plugin will also be available for Linux.

Here is their response:
"Yes, absolutely. I am currently working on it and planning to release both Linux and Mac versions within this month. Please stay tuned!"

Ok, just purchased a simple dedicated laptop (7730U with 16GB of RAM and 512GB SSD) to do - finally and again - some testing with Linux.

I would like to run Bitwig Studio at first and perhaps Reaper as well. Most lightweight would be nice to try as also a version with some more dedicated apps and a more streamlined user experience.

I was thinking of Mint / Ubuntu - but perhaps there better alternatives nowadays? Does anyone (in my feed perhaps) has some tips?

German plugin developer Kreuzberg Audio has joined the Linux family with an interesting line of effects and instruments with native Linux support.

Once again @linuxdaw.org has it all covered (994 registered plugins at the moment).

I was looking into plugins for my mixbus, and I seem to have a couple of holes in my Native Linux collection. I’m curious of what others do, so please chime in!

1: EQ with mid/side mode and stereo width. I have used bx_2098 a lot on Mac: plugin-alliance.com/products/b…

2: Multiband compression. I have used Fabfilter Pro-MB fabfilter.com/products/pro-mb-… and Precision Multiband: uaudio.com/products/precision-…

The solution could be to use native Bitwig Tools obviously.

When we're talking about #Linux, I expect a plugin to work with every Linux distribution, NOT just #Debian-based (.deb) ones! 😟

@audiothing released Environments, a #linuxaudio #plugin that allows you to put any sound in various "Acoustic Spaces".

Reminds me a little bit of Waves' Abbey Roads Chambers, but with much more interesting spaces aka #reverb (s), like the Temple of Mercury (Naples), Piscina Mirabilis (Rome) or Cisternone (Livorno).

Check it out here: audiothing.net/effects/environ…

wow, they sound nice!

We are closing in on being "Overwhelmed" in the #LinuxAudio world with all the new plugins coming out. This one is definitely one of the better options. Copy-paste install, smooth knobs and great sound.

I really don't know when we'll find the time to actually make music πŸ˜‚

Have any of you #linuxaudio enthusiasts heard of Shift Line #plugin (s)?

Compact, musician-focused #effectpedal (s) and sound-processing gear, nicely crafted, interesting-sounding, IMHO. πŸ™‚

Swiss #developer apulSoft continues to port its range of #plugin (s) to #linuxaudio.

New today:
* apShaper (harmonic waveshaper): apulsoft.ch/apshaper/
* apQualizer2 (modular #eq): apulsoft.ch/apqualizr2/

Based on my initial tests, both of these plugins are absolute beasts! πŸ˜›

Sheer endless possibilities and truly unique results. 😎

You might want to give them a try… πŸ€“

#Sitral #Klangfilter #w295 by #KorneffAudio just got an update.

This #EQ #vst3 #Plugin (also for #Linux) wants to change your sound in a sweet way suitable for mastering and stuff, emulating vintage #Siemens EQ circuitry.

I have been using it in productions already. It was good, but very hungry on the CPU. #Korneff state that with this update, they made it more efficient regarding CPU usage.

Carlo (nwsm) shared his #kvraudio post at kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.p… with me. In turn I just updated the lists at linuxaudio.dev/linux-support-r… and linuxaudio.dev/linux-audio-dev…. πŸ€“

When it comes to #linuxaudio, I'd say, things are developing in the right direction. 😎 I mean, just have a look at the list of vendors currently in progress to support #linux and those who plan to do so soon.

Could any of you help the #developer of the Vectra #plugin (see audionerdz.net/product/vectra-…) set up a #linux #testenvironment and #buildsystem?

The developer, Samuel from Audionerdz, is interested in adding Linux support but needs help! πŸ™‚

Since it works really well opening and mixing old Ableton projects in Wine, it was time to activate Ableton.

Platform: Windows? Yeah, right!

I switched to the normal Wine version for this, since Arturia plugins work best that way. No mouse offset (only in Yabridge).

The Fabfilter line-up runs smoothly also!

#LinuxAudio #WineHQ

Ableton Live (11) in Wine with plugins from Plugin Alliance, Native Instruments, Fabfilter and more.

I haven't tried WineASIO, and so far I don't need it, since I don't need to record anything, which means latency is no issue.

It's been such a pleasure listening back to my old sound designs for the theatre. I often work in between traditional sound design and composition, and I'm more interested in the room of the space(s) we work (we are a site specific theatre).

This is the first project I have worked on so far. Still not translated to different listening environments, but it gives a picture of how I might work. This is created using only found sounds and effects.
