RE: floss.social/@gstreamer/115576…

My talk about the #PipeWire native #Rust bindings is up!

gstconf.ubicast.tv/videos/rust…

I covered the broad structure of the PipeWire code, how and why I started some native Rust bindings, and some of the painful parts of using Rust as well.

Jump forward to 1:20 to get to the start of the talk :)

I am pleased to announce the initiative's first #video, in which I walk you through the #linuxaudio #development #website step by step, explain its features, and reflect on ideas and plans for the future. πŸ™‚

#peertube: The LAD PeerTube account is currently awaiting approval by the Spectra Video moderators. πŸ•” I will update the link here asap.

Sigh, another update, another batch of problems. I updated #Debian to 13/Trixie some weeks ago, and have had a bunch of issues, most were solved.

Today I finally "solved", or rather found a workaround for #Ardour bugging out after exporting audio: it would export fine, but afterwards audio didn't play anymore, and I had to kill Ardour because it won't even quit.

Workaround was: Select "PulseAudio" in the audio-setup. It was set to Jack/Pipewire before, and that caused the problems

Sixth Sample plugins are aesthetically simple and clean and sound very cool. The free DeeLay has been one of my staples for a long time. I jumped on this full bundle for about $110 with taxes and whatnot even though I don't really NEED it:

- it's a hell of a deal on already affordable plugins
- indie dev making awesome things (including free stuff) I like using
- Linux support planned for 2026!

A new version of #rtcirqus is available. The only change is that I added a -v|--version CLI option to quickly see which version of rtcirqus you're running.

Here's todays honorable mention for #linuxaudio: ZL Audio!

I have used the Equalizer 2, and it has a lot of the features, where I would normally reach for Pro Q3. One of my favorites is double click to low cut, love that feature!

I often use a graphical EQ for finding problematic frequencies and do my low cuts. ZL Equalizer 2 will be that plugin on Linux.

Here is an introduction (OBS Youtube link):

The whole #LinuxAudio experience has become a lot better too. Back then I scripted my own sessions because I just couldn't get friends with #ladish. It was very cumbersome because those scripts were not very reliable and not very portable.

My #LinuxAudio setup from July 2010. I still have the Korg nanoKontrol and the BCR2000. I sold the BCF2000 and the Focusrite 10. All the other stuff either broke down or was brought to the thrift shop.

On a software level a whole lot has changed too. I switched from a modular setup to a monolithic setup, from JACK to just ALSA, from Ubuntu to #Debian and from Qtractor to #Ardour.

Another big boost for #linuxaudio! πŸ’ͺ

I just submitted the entire rest of the now #linux native DDMF #plugin lineup to #linuxdaw.

Attached are just a few examples of some of the exquisite new tools now available to #linuxmusician (s) around the world. πŸ™

I added them and they should be up soon.

One of the things that don’t care if you are doing music on Mac or Linux is sample packs. I have been using Samples from Mars for years, so while I try out plug-ins I decided to give this free MPC2000 pack another spin: samplesfrommars.com/products/m…

They normally do some really great β€œAll bundle”-offers each New Year, but you can always start with their free packs. There’s a ton of samples to get you startet: samplesfrommars.com/collection…

16 channels now and it all seems to work. Haven't done any recordings yet but the other guys from the band (Ride the Fader that is, my indie rock combo) are pretty stoked and really want to record something.

I just found this Linux Audio Setup Script by Brendan Ingram on Github. It can help you find out what's a good idea to install for music production.

It's copy/paste of one line in the terminal, if you dare running another persons script :) (I did, it seems I'm safe)

#LinuxAudio journey update - Do I *need* to run the Low-Latency Kernel? I'm not sure that I do as I don't have an audio interface.

I've been updating my notes so that I can rebuild all of this without too much drama (if needed).

Today I got my sample libraries sorted out by setting the discs with media to be auto-mounted at login. I have a curious issue with #BitwigStudio v4.0 not wanting to load mp3 audio, but v5.3.13 and v6-beta-6 handle this just fine.

Feel free to have a look and follow along over at my website: ambientspace.com/technical-not…

Today I found out something simple (which means, I was big stupid…)

If I don't use #LinuxStudioPlugins Impulse Reverb plugin, but the simpler Impulse Responses plugin, plus the more vivid color theme, I actually like it.

With the #BricastiM7 stereo impulse responses.

Another plugin impossible for me not to love is good old #Voxengo #Voxformer running on #Linux via #WinVST. Best tool for #mixing #vocals.

I use a very outdated version. But it does the job very well. The preset #compressor just hits the nail, the #deEesser is among the best I know and then there's this little pressence / tube driver simulation which you won't need for your studio mics, but which comes in handy for live recordings with mics like the Shure #Beta58 or even the old crap #SM58.

(The only caveat: Make sure to switch on 8x oversampling. The default is 1x, which sounds not as great.)

I am an #audiovisual person and regularly swapped #frontplate (s) during my #eurorack days (see e.g. grayscale.info/panels/) to make my system more beautiful. πŸ€“

Now I have found virtual panels swaps for @uheplugins #plugin (s), so to speak. 😊

These go far beyond just the look and seem to also introduce new #workflow (s).

I want to try some of them out soon. Ss it looks, they work on #linuxaudio, macOS, and Windows. πŸ₯°

This allows us to focus on more than just #plugin (s) and also cover DAWs, specialized audio #linuxsoftware, and #linuxhardware support in the future.
