A few more pictures from my #eclipse sequence, seen through clouds from Horseshoe Bay, Texas.

The astronauts aboard the ISS were amazed by the April 8 solar eclipse, just like the rest of us, and went crazy snapping photos from orbit.

They got some amazing views of the Moon's shadow sweeping across southern Canada & Maine, seen from 420 km (261 miles) above: https://www.flickr.com/photos/nasa2explore/with/53645140833 #space #eclipse #space #astronomy

#PPOD: The Moon's shadow, or umbra, is pictured covering portions of the Canadian provinces of Quebec and New Brunswick and the American state of Maine in this photograph from the International Space Station as it soared into the solar eclipse from 420 kilometers above the surface of Earth. The diameter of the shadow is 160 km. Credit: NASA

I've finally started to sort out the eclipse photos from my big camera. This came just a few seconds after my diamond ring photo, so let's call this a ruby ring.

I'm not completely sure what's going on here to create the red color. I think the red is from the Sun's chromosphere. Then maybe the red is being refracted then scattered a bit by the high cloud cover we had during totality. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Such a shame the total solar eclipse was not visible in Europe...but well you can see some super amazing photos on https://tromnews.com/photos/ :) - here is my favorite:

I love our TROMnews website...I visit it every single day.

Even with all the eclipse photos circulating right now, this one made my eyes pop. Great shot of jet contrails breaking up the edge of the eclipsed Sun. Quick calculation: The Sun is about 30,000,000 times wider than the jet.

I don't understand why the solar eclipse path was curved. The Earth is flat, shouldn't it be a straight line?

Thank you, I'll be here all week.

Enjoyed seeing the Eclipse, even though we only had ~95% totality!

So. That was impressive. Here’s a quick sample from the backyard. Of note: temperature drop from 79.3 to 74.8, #solar production from the panels dropped to 0 and the house draw from the grid was the usual constant 420 watts, once the sun started coming back out the panels ramped back up, the temperature continued to drop for a few minutes to 74.5 but finally started edging up, and the dog could give a shit and just wandered around sniffing like usual.

Wow. The pictures don’t do it justice. Jupiter was visible to the left and Venus to the right (not in picture).

[ belated because we had no cell reception ]
We have a spot. The dogs have bully sticks. Now we just have to survive the next four hours or so.

There are, apparently a lot of really impatient assholes on the road. Be careful out there, folks.

One of them that nearly forced us off the road by not allowing us to merge when a lane went away just tried to pull around a semi, on the blind side of the hill, in a no passing zone when the truck is also in the same long line of traffic that we are.

#eclipse #Vermont

We are about 30 minutes south of Burlington in the middle of nowhere farm country and this is the traffic ahead of us. In the past half hour we’ve gone from an hour and 15 minutes to our destination to one hour to our destination. We keep passing through teeny town centers where the speed limit drops, and it ends up making slow moving standing waves of traffic

#eclipse #Vermont

It has begun… again.

It is 6:17 AM and there is already a stream of traffic heading north. I am just thankful that we didn’t do anything stupid yesterday and that the dog is not stressing out like he has in the past.

#eclipse #Vermont

It was… dramatic. I have thoughts. The first of which is that 3 1/2 minutes is not nearly long enough to wrap your head around everything that’s happening.

#eclipse #Vermont

We all kind of wandered outside to admire the wonder we were blessed with today. #eclipse #Kingsville

Wow look at this fantastic #timelapse #photo of the #eclipse from #NASA

I think that's the Washington Monument in #DC #WashingtonDC

Obligatory photo of the #eclipse, courtesy of a tree and some leaves.

Here in Indianapolis, we had a totality around 3pm EST. The bird chatter was deafening all afternoon around the feeders, but once totality hit, it was dead silent (not one peep) until the sun came back. And the temperature dropped about 10 degrees. #eclipse #TotalSolarEclipse #HoosierMast

Total #eclipse seen from Horseshoe Bay, Texas!

So this is the only eclipse we had here on the west coast of Canada.

#Eclipse

The eclipse met all my expectations.
.
During totality it was pitch black. The temperatures dropped by 20°. It was unbelievable.

My best close up. I wish I had exposed for more corona... But mostly this time I put the cameras down and just enjoyed the full 4 minutes.

Once again, celestial dynamics imposed a sense of the realest really real reality upon me! I did some tears.

I hope you got to experience totality OR can see the next one.

The Solar eclipse as seen from my home in Reykjavík, Iceland.

If you look closely you can see a sunspot close to the centre of the sun.

Taken with a Canon 77D, 400mm lens with a Seymour Solar filter at the front of it.

Well, we certainly tried our best. Crystal clear day just moments before the big show, and then the clouds rolled in. Mother nature sure has a sense of humor! Shot with a #Nikon #Coolpix P1000, this time with a tripod.
