A color photo of a huge tower of condos, probably built in the 1960s or 70s. It consists of a tower on each side that is larger and a thin tower in the middle. Each level of windows is separated by a large strip of color. In this case I have brought the natural oranges and greens up a bit and the windows look black in several places. There are also three smaller buildings on the left and one at the corner on the right. The photo has been made to look very futuristic. And there is a frame on it that looks like a TV screen.

Satellite Trails Over Hobart Skies
Satellite trails are an increasingly visible sign of human impact on the night sky. As large constellations of satellites expand, long streaks of reflected sunlight appear in astronomical images, interfering with observations and altering the natural darkness of space.

This is closely tied to light pollution: while traditional light pollution comes from ground-based sources, satellites introduce a new, moving form of sky brightness. AltText: A striking vertical, long-exposure night photograph capturing an alpine landscape under a sky heavily crisscrossed by satellite trails. In the lower third, a rocky, dirt path winds through low-lying green and golden alpine shrubs toward a prominent outcrop of massive, weathered dolerite boulders. Above this ancient terrain, the dark night sky transitions from a deep teal-blue at the zenith to a hazy, light grey glow along the horizon. The sky is filled with a dense, chaotic grid of straight, intersecting white and faintly colored light trails left by passing satellites. Some trails appear as perfectly spaced dashed lines, slicing across the natural background of faint, static stars and contrasting sharply with the curved, subtle star trails visible on the left edge.

A Natural Wetsuit
The platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus) has a two‑layered fur for maintaining thermal homeostasis in Tasmania’s cold, freshwater environments. Its outer coat consists of tightly packed guard hairs rich in natural oils that provide water resistance. Beneath this lies a layer of fine, wool‑like underfur that traps a stable layer of air against the skin. Together, these layers form effective thermal insulation.

Hygrocybe Firma
Hygrocybe firma is a fungus whose very small, red sporing bodies appear in Tasmanian forests in autumn. It has a biotrophic relationship with surrounding vegetation, where the mycelium lives inside or in close contact with plant roots. The red colour pops amid the forest greens, often making for lovely colour compositions.

Dragon's Eye

This photograph captures an incredible geological anomaly found inside an old, abandoned slate mine in Lancashire, England (often referred to by urban explorers and geologists as the "Dragon's Eye Stone Quarry").

The image shows two explorers standing on a floor of collapsed shale and slate tiles, looking up at a massive, perfectly spherical, and smooth rock formation embedded into the ceiling.

A striking photograph taken inside a subterranean stone quarry, looking up at a massive geological formation known as the "Dragon's Eye." The cavern floor is chaotic, cluttered with large, flat, shattered slabs of brown and tan slate and shale rock. Two explorers wearing helmets and headlamps stand among the rubble, their figures providing a dramatic sense of scale. Looming directly above them in the curved ceiling of the cavern is a massive, perfectly oval and smooth rock depression that resembles a giant reptilian eye. The "iris" of the eye is textured with rich, vibrant streaks of golden-orange and rust-colored mineral deposits. These bright patterns wrap around a massive, smooth, dark grey and black central dome that forms the "pupil" of the eye. The outer edges of the formation are framed by concentric, layered rings of sediment, making it appear as though a colossal creature is peering down through the rock face.

When you upgrade to 26.5 and visit Maps, read the Advertising and Privacy link carefully. A good reason NOT to update. Can't tell you truly how disgusted this makes me!

I hope this BADLY damages Apple's reputation.
