The danger here is that Congress will accept a ~25% relocation of force as sufficient reform, and restore funding with no mechanism for ensuring accountability. When an ICE agent had a seizure in Minneapolis on Jan. 22, the two women in his custody were the ones who helped him. The Star Tribune reports on how 39-year-old kindergarten teacher Tippy Amundson, and 55-year-old personal care attendant Heather Zemien told the driver of the SUV they were held in to call 911, asked to be uncuffed, and kept the ICE agent's airway clear and his head cradled as he had a second seizure. After the agent was transferred to medical care, Amundson and Zemien were taken to Whipple Federal Building where a commanding officer eventually told them: "We’re releasing you to your counsel and to your state representative ... But you need to tell everybody that we treated you kindly.”

After smashing the door, ICE claimed they had a search warrant, but never showed it… even after being asked to see it. They searched every room with rifles drawn, handcuffed all residents, including the 12-year-old boy, and paraded them down the street. Every adult had a valid work permit and state ID, but, agents only left a woman and her infant behind.
And here’s the kicker:
Even though ICE said this was about drugs, not immigration, they still took the 12-year-old boy, transporting him to an immigration center in San Antonio, Texas in less than 24 hours.
And, to make this all even more illegal… A warrant was dropped off THE NEXT DAY, claiming to be from a state court, but:
• It doesn’t match official Ramsey County #warrant formats • Has no case number or file stamp • No record of filing exists (though filing can sometimes be delayed)
So, the questions become:
Did ICE falsify a warrant after illegally entering the home? Did they plant drugs to justify this raid? And most importantly… what did #DHS do with a 12-year-old boy they weren’t supposed to touch?
A government agency stormed a home, handcuffed children, and transported a minor across state lines… all without a real warrant at the time of the arrest, or any legal justification.
If this can happen to one family in broad daylight, it can happen to anyone.
