This awesome plugin supports Linux natively! 🙂

RE: mastodon.social/@rekkerd/11679…

This is an excellent multi-effects app that I bought a little while ago. It works natively on linux, and it's been the gift that just keeps giving. Every new version adds great new stuff. This is one worth considering. 🙂 👍

Had a fantastic time at #LAC2026 in Maynooth! It was great to connect with so many brilliant people.

I had the opportunity to present our work. Sharing this research and hearing the feedback was incredibly rewarding.

A huge thank you to the organizers and everyone who made it such a memorable event

Yesterday, I tried the #Zoom #M3 #microphone / #recorder on my camera.

Today I noticed I had the stereo width set to 120°. So I decided to try the #MidSide raw files and adjust the stereo width in post.

The M3 always stores 32bit float WAV stereo at the setting used, and additionally a “RAW” file without processing, a 32bit WAV in which left channel is mid, right channel is side.

At first, I used a plugin called MS2ST. Didn't work properly, actually I don't know what it was trying to do. Now using good old #SteveHarris “Matrix: MS to Stereo” which does it!

I am learning that the result sounds a lot different than what I have heard being there myself. Part of it is that the M3 is just two cheap shitty mics in one chassis together with a recorder. The position of the mic on the camera also is not great. And I'm also not sure if it really uses an omni mic for the mid channel.

Yet for anything serious I'd do a multi-track recording anyways.

this very much depends on your interface. The easiest answer is increase the buffer size. I would definitely recommend installing Cable/Cables so you can dynamically adjust your pipewire/wireplumber config without messing with config files. github.com/magillos/Cable

If you post your interface, you might get some answers specific to it!

Tape Fiasco 2 by #developer Jonas Eriksson is now available for #linux! 😎

I had the chance to help with #beta testing and was genuinely blown away by the effects this #plugin can produce. 🤯

A seriously creative tool ranging from subtle character to absolute sonic chaos.

If you’re looking for a #linuxaudio, #glitch processor, this is definitely worth checking out.

I was able to add a couple more people to my "Linux Audio" collection for those who are doing music production on the Linux platform.

Since people can't be added to collections unless their Mastodon site is using Mastodon 4.6 or higher, I have to add people little by little as their Mastodon sites update.

Little by little I guess. I think in the end it will be a great feature! :)

Looks like #bitwig 6.1 is going to be a nice update, see: bitwig.com/whats-new/

The public #beta is up already.

linuxdaw.org/ feels like it is bursting with new releases. 😜

Have a look! The Tokyo Dawn Records #plugin (s) are out of beta, Deep Waters 2 by ZAK Sound seems very interesting, just to name a few of the additions.

Isn't TDR Prism available for Linux great news? And many more plugins from Tokyo Dawn Records. When did this happen? Is this news or just old news?

Prism was one of the few plugins I missed when I said goodbye to yabridge and Windows Plugins a few years ago.

I’ve been on an audio forum 24 years—it’s a home away from home. As a Linux advocate, I promote it, but one user “weaponizes” AI with negative, argumentative replies to every post I make. Responding creates an endless loop; ignoring him lets him spread false claims and control the narrative, forcing me to engage. The admin hasn’t intervened.

What can be done in this situation?

Please boost to broaden reach. I need help!

Dear #linuxaudio community,

To serve as a good #startingpoint for setting up a #linux based #daw, do you think the new Hardware/Software Recipes section on the LAD website is complete, or is there key information missing that I should add?

The Software Installer for Caracal OS is a music software catalog that allows direct install of many open source music plugins and direct links to official downloads for non-FOSS software. Plus helper scripts for installing those downloads that can be triggered with a right click. This makes installing audio software on an #immutable more straightforward. The library is constantly expanding at the fastest rate I can manage. It is packaged with Caracal OS as a desktop app. #linuxaudio

RE: mastodon.social/@caracal_os/11…

For any developers, particularly #linuxaudio enthusiasts, if you are interested in a project like this, any help is welcome. The goal is to build an immutable #ublue image like #bazzite but for audio production. So that people like us, who do like to tinker with our system, can share our optimisations with those who might usually be put off using Linux for audio.

I ported OTODESK's Ambience algorithmic reverb to Linux.

I also added locking for wet/dry settings, made the UI scalable, and embedded the factory presets in the build.

It's a wonderful sounding algorithmic reverb. You can download a VST3 build here:

github.com/michaelquigley/ambi…

My fork:

github.com/michaelquigley/ambi…

Will have a release build ready once I've tested this build to satisfaction.

I have started to look more into the native plugins of Bitwig, and I'm starting to find tools I would like to use more.

All 4 devices in this 5.2 update-news is really interesting. The Compressor+ for bringing down harsh areas or even de-essing, and the Pultec inspired EQs with add'ed saturation.

The toolbox of Bitwig is really deep. I found the best way to check out the devices is loading the device and pressing F1 for info.

Exploring #LinuxStudioPlugins #Autogain.

It's not a miracle cure. I have a talk event live recording that needs to be processed quickly, and its not for publication and also not paid extra… yet as often with live stereo recordings, the levels go up and down way too much.

For speakers who had used the microphone more or less properly I can find a setting that works well. For those holding the mic towards the belly button while moving their head a lot,… well, can't rescue those.

I'd really love to test a #JüngerAudio #LevelMagic unit but I can't sell my car to afford one used…

As always, using @x42 #EBU128 radar meter to check things, and #Voxengo #Elephant as final limiter via #Yabridge. In #Ardour this time.

I’m in great need of more money for plugins! So many vendors are joining the #LinuxAudio world, and I feel like supporting them all, to show my gratitude of them supporting our community.

Latest Tokyo Dawn Records joined, which also means the Ohlhorst line of plugins. They even made an installer (even though we people like our .sh files)!

Thanks to @flosillermastering for keeping me in the loop on this one!

I've been thinking about drums and how Reason has the option of instrument lanes, and can this be done in Bitwig Studio?

Editing programmed drums can be aided by having a note lane for each voice.

Today's solution is to use a Group Track to hold the Drum Machine and a Note FX Layer to route Instrument Tracks into the Group Track. This feels like a good way to continue. This will hopefully find its way into my next #FSOBW track

Switching to the HP ZBook also means I have an extra Thunderbolt port. With the Open Apollo driver project, I can now hopefully use my Apollo 8P as an Audio Interface instead of just a monitor controller, and my Zoom H6 can move back in the backpack.

The driver is still in experimental state, so it also means there will be quirks, but let's see. I can always go back to the Zoom H6 again.

I will keep you posted!
