An idea to shame users of corporate social media sites:
Instead of calling them Users, call them Customers.
You know, draw attention to how they are not just passively existing on those sites, but by being on them they are giving money to bad people.

A bit of a stretch, but do I know anyone who's familiar with traditional Irish, English, and/or old-time folk tunes? Trying to find the name of a few tunes that I still can't figure out even though I know I've heard them a million times before at old-time jams and contra dances and what not. I've been scouring @thesession with no luck!
The one labeled "Tune 4" is still eluding me. It's a medley so if you skip to half way through or so it will change and I'm trying to figure out both tunes.

EDIT: the embedded Internet Archive player sometimes picks the wrong tune. Best to click through.
Update: One medley left, thanks fedi folks! Post edited.

Now that it has come up in two recent conversations, I have to ask: what's the simplest social bookmarking application that gets closest to what Delicious* used to be? Ideally free and open source...
And is anyone working on a federated ActivityPub equivalent? Because that would be cool!

#AskFedi:
If an app on Google's Play Store says it may share with third parties your "Name, email address, user ID and other info" for the purposes of "App functionality, Fraud prevention, security, and compliance, Account management" as well as your messages and your approximate location... could the data be used for ad targeting?
Even if the company says that the app in question is only to verify your identity and is separate from the other app it's verifying your identity for? And it says it's complying with European laws?
This is a toot about #WIdentity and #WSocial

Dear Fedi friends,
You know how grateful I am for your help and expertise. I have a burning question and I know some of you may have the correct answer.
Long story short, I had been doing a deep dive into #WSocial. My exposé published on Friday got 830 retweets!
I am working on a follow-up piece and there's something I don't understand.
The homepage of W Social is now redirecting - from wsocial.eu to wsocial.news
If I put wsocial.news in WHOIS databases, I'm finding very little information about when it was registered. And there's some odd stuff, like showing an IP address in Washington DC - but they are very adamant of being hosted in Europe... and they use bunny.net (Slovenia). What gives?
Should Loops create a policy against generative-ai contributions across our server and expo app projects?
