AFAICT, mastodon's decisions, which are arguably problematic (on which see: https://lemmy.ml/post/14973403) are literally trickling down to other platforms and infecting how they federate with each other as they dance around mastodon's quirks in different ways.
It seems like masto is ruining "the standard" with its gravity.

Worst, if you make an announcement about a shutdown, claiming you'll help, then proceed to delete that announcement and then your account, making getting that help impossible.🙄

If you're new, you might want to post an #introduction post littered with hashtags that are related to your interests.
A lot of people browse that hashtag to find new users and help them along.
A lot of instances don't allow full text search, therefore hashtags are their only way of seeing your posts.
I find myself using the same hashtags for my interests, over and over. However, there doesn't seem to be an app, so far, that allows me to have a list of frequently used tags so I don't have to retype them for every single post...
How is this not a thing yet? I've been BEGGING for a "Hashtag Drawer" type feature in apps for AGES now...🤦♂️
thinking about federation with platforms whose data policies one finds questionable: could there be a kind of „view only“ interaction mode?
that is, I don‘t mind seeing the content but I don‘t want my posts/info going over to that platform…
(much like RSS, basically, but without a need for me to subscribe- content can just show up organically in my TL, for example through boosts or hashtags)
