More black-and-white film photo goodness. I have done another photo blog post. This one is about Alba de los Cardaños, a picturesque place I chanced upon in my travels. I hope you enjoy it!

So I had this wild idea...

I went to an exhibition of a friend's work by an art collective lately, and it gave me an idea about getting together with some photographers I know, and perhaps we could put on some kind of a group project or a themed exhibition ☺️

Checking for interest now before I commit - do I know any #London based peeps who would be down for a challenge like that?

Today's image is *Flowery Bounce*, an in-camera double exposure on Ilford FP4+ film
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For the longest time I was convinced that at the 1/60th of a second I shoot my images in the studio, in-motion poses would be entirely blurry... But of course that's absurd, because the flash speed is what determines the image that gets captured, and the flash speed is way faster than 1/60th. So I've started trying to work out good looking poses in mid-air. What do you think ?

*Into the Wild* is an in-camera double exposure on Ilford FP4+ film.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There's a gray area somewhere between structured textures (leaves pointing in the same direction, etc.) and chaotic ones (random variety of different plants) that I really like but is very tricky to get by design. On this image, I feel like I've found that elusive middle ground.

The U.S. gov. has tried to silence photographers before.

"It hired famed photographer Dorothea Lange to take pictures as 110,000 Japanese and Japanese-Americans were removed from their homes on the West Coast and interned at remote military-style camps throughout the interior.

The agency had hoped Lange's photos would depict the process as orderly and humane.

But the hundreds of photos that Lange turned over did the opposite."

I had such a ball shooting large format portraits at the #PhillyTweedRide. Cool nerds dressed up to ride vintage bikes and super psyched to have their photo taken with antique cameras.

Years ago I was given an unexposed roll of Kodacolor II film that had expired in 1977. It had belonged to my grandfather, and had not been stored under ideal conditions.

So I threw it in the trash, like a normal person.

Kidding! I shot the roll in my Holga 120N in January 2011. The results were fairly wonky, and needed serious massaging in post. A few weren't bad for being shot on 34 years expired color film. #BelieveInFilm #ExpiredFilm #ThrowbackThursday

Hey #believeinfilm friends,

Today I review one of the nicest 28mm SLR lenses I've ever tried:

Nikon Nikkor 28mm 𝒇3.5 AI-S
analog.cafe/r/nikon-nikkor-28m…

It's sharp, has good geometric distortion control, can focus at .3m, and is an absolute pleasure to hold for a very reasonable price. I even tested it with the highest-resolving photographic medium to see how it performs with extreme enlargements!

Image of the day is *Stability*, a
multiple exposure on Ilford FP4+ film
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One of the really fun aspects of "One and More" is figuring out poses. I have a little sketchbook where I draw stick figures, but quite often as was the case here with David, the models come up with ideas once they have figured out what it is I'm trying to achieve. I absolutely love this pose, it really feels like a new creature has been born.

Sensitive content

After much consternation, I just backed the daylight darkroom printing Kickstarter, Berlinova¹. This video from the 120ist² pushed me over.

I'm hoping it gets funded and helps prevent my slide towards darkroom printing at home. 😭

#BelieveInFilm / #FilmPhotography people, please back this project (I'm not affiliated). I just want to print some 4x6s for fun to give out to friends! Currently #35mm only.

*Clap Hands* is a multiple exposure on Ilford FP4+ film.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I'm finally getting somewhere with my multiple exposure project of the same model, tentatively named "one and more". It takes a lot of brainstorming to come up with poses, and there are a lot of technical issues related to the model being lit multiple times, but slowly I'm solving these issues. I was particularly pleased with this idea, which came up spontaneously during the shoot. Elena was a real trooper, especially considering it was our first collaboration. Bonus points for those who get the title reference.

We now move on to Ávila, with historic walls surrounding the city. We also switch to medium format.

These medieval fortifications are the most complete and best preserved in Spain.
