How did the @ScientistRebellion movement emerge and spread so quickly around the world? My new book, Science in Resistance (out in October with UC Press) documents the evolution of the Scienitist Rebellion movement over the past 5 years. Combining personal stories, interviews with scientist-activists, and insights from research on direct action and academia, I explore the challenges scientists face when taking a stand for climate and ecological justice.
Half of the proceeds will go to SR and allied climate justice groups.

A powerful storm system stalled over states from Texas to Ohio for days this month, causing deadly tornadoes, mudslides and flooding.

Can ancient wisdom guide us to a sustainable future?
Like how ancient Peruvians mastered desert farming with flexible, multifunctional irrigation systems. Today’s modern projects risk sacrificing long-term resilience for short-term gains.

Peru’s ancient irrigation systems succeeded in turning deserts into farms because of the culture − without it, the systems failed
Ancient practices hold important lessons for farmers facing drying lands, but they were often more complex than modern societies realize. Glacier loss adds to the challenge today. The Conversation
So most leaders of organized #religion are basically just like #BigOil executives who knew that #ClimateChange will be calamitous for humanity, but were silent because they didn’t want to stop the flow of money into their coffers. Did I get that right?
A vast majority of Christian religious leaders (90%!) believe humans are driving #climatechange, but almost half have never mentioned it to their congregations.
They could be the key to greater climate action – but only if they start talking about it. buff.ly/76pXtbl

Churchgoers who think their religious leaders don’t believe humans are driving climate change are less likely to discuss it with fellow congregants or take action to mitigate the effects. The Conversation

Well, there's a headline that certainly captures the moment: Big banks predict catastrophic warming, with profit potential.
“We now expect a 3°C world,” Morgan Stanley analysts wrote earlier this month."
"The stunning conclusion indicates that the bank believes the planet is hurtling toward a future in which severe droughts and harvest failures become widespread, sea-level rise is measured in feet rather than inches and tropical regions experience episodes of extreme heat and humidity for weeks at a time."
"Morgan Stanley’s climate forecast was tucked into a mundane research report on the future of air conditioning stocks, which it provided to clients on March 17."

Important court day. A farmer from Peru is suing German coal major RWE for contributing to climate change which is bound to cause a rockslide into the glacial lake uphill from the farner's honetown.. and drown them all... unless an expensive protection dam is built. The cost of which RWE shall have to pay.
The verdict by the first instance court in 2017 denied the argument.
Today's court, Oberlandesgericht Hamm, starts from scratch. The judges even did an onsite visit in 2022 as preparation.
And they appointed a court expert on specific climate attribution, too...who, it turns out, is on the side of RWE... See the second to last post in below thread...
Here's a live ticker from the court room. This is the last post in the thread:

Don’t tell anyone, but according to NCEI records, the US has endured 403 weather & climate disasters since 1980. The total damage? A jaw-dropping $2.915 trillion.
And 2024? It wasn’t pretty. The country saw 27 confirmed weather/climate disaster events with losses exceeding $1 billion each.
So, good luck in 2025—when Elon Musk and his DOGE-funded emergency response team will be in charge. Hope you like your disaster relief in crypto.
