If our planet were a patient, it would be admitted to intensive care. Its vital signs are alarming. It is running a high fever, with average global temperatures increasing year after year. Its lung capacity is compromised, with the destruction of forests that absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. & many of the earth's water sources - its lifeblood - are contaminated. Most concerning of all, its condition is deteriorating

There is one measure of progress preventing climate collapse, how much we have REPLACED carbon fueled engines. ONE MEASURE. NO OTHER.
No utopia is perfect. There will always be some kind of pain, so in my #solarpunk short film, a couple fight over chicken, but this is not just material for a dark comedy. Wind: A Solarpunk Short Film
I'm making a new short film, which I'll release on my PeerTube channel. It is a final target practice for a feature film (titled Big Tree) that I intend to shoot next year, themed on direct democracy in a near-future solarpunk world.Dilman Dila
Just five international oil and gas giants – ExxonMobil, Chevron, Shell, BP and TotalEnergies – are responsible for over $5 trillion in projected climate damages based on their emissions since the Paris Agreement was adopted (between 2016 & 2025).
That’s the shocking finding from experts from Stanford and Delaware universities, who used the social cost of carbon methodology, alongside emissions data from the Carbon Majors Database

China has one company that builds and connects solar power, equal in output, to Italy's total use, every single year.
This is just a "do it" - its not a wait for a special energy solution, or fusion, or nukes, or waiting for Godot.
Its just do it. Do it so German forests dont die, so Russian oil stops flowing, so transition jobs are created. So floods stop washing out cities
Build it.

New South Korea law will turn large parking lots into solar power farms.
Mandatory Installation of Solar Panels in Public Parking Lots.
And It Will Apply Retroactively to Existing Facilities
Parking lots in South Korea with more than 80 spaces will be required to install solar canopies. But, unlike similar laws elsewhere, the new law doesn’t just apply to new construction – existing lots will have to comply.
Yay.

This is more than concerning; it is, or it should, downright alarming.
Australia's tropical rainforests have switched from Carbon sink to Carbon source — they now release more CO2 than they absorb. We're the first, likely because our rainforests exist in drier climes than most in the world.
If other forests follow suit, all climate models will need rethinking and the temperature predictions will be woefully inadequate.
> "We thought the forest would be able to store more carbon because [CO2] is increasing. But looking at these long term empirical datasets, we find that is not the case – it allows us to confront the theory with reality and better understand how these systems work.”

Yesterday at the International Maritime Organisation in London, a meeting which was intended to conclude with the adoption of a global levy on environmentally damaging shipping emissions, ended up (after significant US pressure) pausing the adoption of the measure (and this its staged implementation) for another year.

This spike in demand is driving an unexpected resurgence in coal generation, which has increased nearly 20 percent year-to-date. The research note, seen by The Register, states:
"We raise our estimate for coal generation by ~11 percent (driven by higher capacity factors), and staying elevated through 2027 on favorable fuel pricing vs gas (particularly for existing fleet).".
