Day 7, Stáloluokta - Låddejåhka, 24 km hiking

Too windy to even hug the shore and paddle to Arasluokta, I hiked the trail the entire way to the Låddejåhka cabin. At lunch I discovered I had left my cup in Stáloluokta and decided to stay in cabins until I could buy a new one in Ritsem, my breakfast and evening meal require measuring.

In the cabin I spoke a while with a swiss guy who was hiking Norge På Langs this year. He had started at Nordkapp and had about 2000 km left.

Jag har precis kommit hem från ett härligt besök i Skåne. Jag och en vän tog en promenad till Hovdala slott, söder om Hässleholm.
Vädret passade på att göra ett uppehåll i regnandet och bjöd på solsken, små lätta moln och 23°C.
Bussen lämpade av oss några kilometer från slottet och det jag trodde skulle vara en tråkig transportsträcka visade sig vara en vacker promenad genom bokskkog och kulturlandskap med milsvid utsikt. Det blev en tiddelipommig dag med en go vän.🌞🤩 #hiking #sweden #hovdala

Found a strong beaver working on its log cabin this morning, hauling serious lumber down the creek to the lodge. Amazing! #Hiking #AltText
Photo shows a large beaver, only its head above water, hauling a fairly hefty log, maybe four inches in diameter and seven feet long, down a creek. It is in the shade so the photo color are muted. The beaver is holding on to one end of log in its mouth, the other end trailing behind.

We are standing on the shore of a large lake. Below us are tufts of water grasses growing just offshore, a partially submerged rock and a partially submerged tree limb. To our left is a large leafy shrub. It is a calm evening, the lake surface is just slightly rippled. Across the lake is a low wooded ridge topped by a water tower. Beyond that a glimpse of a slightly higher ridge. Most of the sky is a deep blue. The recently set sun tints the horizon gold. Upper level winds have created a gentle swirl effect in some passing clouds. From below the horizon the sun's rays are tinting the bottoms of the clouds bright pink and deep purple.

Bright green curtains of aurora borealis fill most of a deep blue night sky, swirling and streaming diagonally from the upper left toward the horizon. The brightest band forms a sharp ribbon of vivid green edged with pink and magenta, folding back on itself like drapery, while fainter rays fan out to the right in soft vertical streaks. A few stars show through the glow. Along the bottom, a low ridge of snow-covered mountains catches faint light, and the dark silhouette of a rocky outcrop with a few spruce trees rises in the lower right corner. A thin band of pale purple twilight lingers just above the mountains.

A low-angle, wide shot captures a dense, old-growth forest shrouded in mist, dominated by tall evergreen trees with a prominent moss-covered tree on the left. Exactly two weeks ago I hiked Naches Peak Loop at the Mount Rainier National Park with a few online friends. (We then actually had nachos.) This was said to be a mild trail but the ice on the way made it a lot more challenging. Yes, there's still ice in mid June!
