I often write about #USpol, but until today, I had never thought to browse the hashtag.
Friends, that is not a high-quality hashtag. Lots of nonsense, conspiracy theories, incoherent rambling, and misguided anger. I didn't encounter anything right-wing or conservative. I don't know if it's because those people avoid the Fediverse, eschew the hashtag, or are effectively blocked by my instance.
It's sad to find so many people on "my side" are not the brightest bulbs in life's marquee.

ICYMI: there was a huge change issued in US immigration policy a couple days ago. It's stunningly wide-reaching, essentially gutting the green card process. Up til now, you could stay in the US while your green card was being processed. Now you will have to go to your home country to wait. This is devastating - first and foremost to the people and families involved, but also to the US economy in general.

Prof. Peter Hotez says what many of have been feeling and wondering - we grew up assuming that the American people were smart, educated, knowledgeable, thoughtful, creative, forward looking. But look at the vast swath of the population now, lapping up the lies, gaslighting and snake-oil emanating from grifters in right-wing media, republican leaders, billionaires and the current White House.
