This is a black and white nighttime cityscape, long exposure photo of a body of water with the light trails of passing boats and a high-rise waterfront cityscape in the background. Victoria Harbour, Hong Kong (2018).

The dark harbour water rises from the base of the photo upwards to a little above the half way up level. The water at the base is pitch black with it becoming an undulating silver tone from the reflection of the bright lights of the distant, about one to two km away, high-rise waterfront cityscape. From the quarter up level to the top of the photo are a series of random wavy lines crossing the image horizontally from left to right, light trails caused by passing boats and a long camera exposure. Around the centre section of the photo, the lines are much brighter and clearly defined, with the lines towards the top having a dimmer less distinct, almost mist like appearance. Beyond, is the city's waterfront lined with multiple, brightly lit skyscrapers, many with large and illuminated signs on their roofs. Some with lighting in the shape of Christmas decorations stretching the height of those buildings, one with 'Seasons Greetings' in large neon lettering near the top. The rapidly rising terrain behind the waterfront is obscured by the misty light trails towards the top of the image.

This is a black and white photo in landscape format of a busy airport taxiway surrounded by fog with a long line of aircraft waiting to takeoff. JFK, New York (2011).

One third of the way to the right of the left edge of the photo is a long solid line stretching along the centre of the taxiway and away from the camera. A short distance to the right of the centre line (about ten cm) is a line of lights inset into the tarmac, spaced every few metres. About ten metres to the left and right of the centre line are two parallel solid lines marking the edge of the taxiway, one either side, though the tarmac continues for a distance of another five or ten metres beyond. Further to the right is a wide grass area before a small portion of a parallel runway is in view. Surrounding this scene is a bright, white, morning fog with a visibility of no more than five hundred metres. In front of the camera is a row of five aircraft on the taxiway waiting for their turn to take off. The closest aircraft is about ten metres from the camera, is a Boeing 737 narrow body, shorthaul aircraft with two jet engines slung under the wings and small winglets on the wingtips. Beyond the queue of aircraft is a further larger aircraft, about five hundred metres away, at right angles to the taxiway and is on the runway and starting its takeoff roll, this aircraft is partially obscured by the fog. Above and beyond is filled with a large body of bright, morning fog.

Behind him is a crowd of commuters, shoppers and hardy tourists, all waiting to cross the street. Immediately behind is a large and brightly lit shop front belonging to the clothing chain H&M with numerous female mannequins behind the large glass shopfront. A narrow cobblestone alley slopes gently downhill between old whitewashed and pastel-coloured buildings on Gotland, Sweden, framed by climbing pink roses along the left wall. Steep tiled and metal rooftops line both sides of the street, leading the eye toward a small harbour with sailboats visible at the end of the lane. The overcast evening sky is soft and diffused. The scene has a quiet, timeless charm typical of the island’s old town streets.
