Some Fedi apps should merge or at least start adding features from other apps.

I'm currently using 3 apps because each one has necessary QOL features that would severely hinder my Fedi experience if they didn't exist. However, it'd be quite appreciated if they were all in one app instead of having to juggle them...😬🤦‍♂️

I swear, if Fedi becomes closed in any way, shape, or form due to the sheer amount of people thinking that this is Signal, I'll be deleting my instance so fast, you won't even know where I went.

I'm so tired of unknowledgeable people trying to change the platform. The really bad thing is that it's seemingly starting to work and we're going against what the platform was made to be in the first place...

PLEASE, if you want privacy, use @signalapp !!! That place is KNOWN for privacy! Don't make open platforms become closed because you were uninformed when you joined the open platform!

If I have to start screaming to the void like I used to have to do on other platforms, this place will be dead to me.

Did you know that EVERY Mastodon profile has an RSS feed attached to their account?

That means that ALL public posts originating from a Mastodon account can easily be grabbed/seen/scraped by anyone on the internet.

Not to mention there's 20,000+ Fediverse instances and new ones every day that can be doing anything with your public posts without your knowledge.

Do yourself a favor. If you don't want your posts to be publicly available to anyone at any time, make your posts "Followers only". That's the only way to make sure your posts are private.

We are going to kill Fedi if we keep wrongly telling new projects that they have to allow "opt-in" to their project being federated. That's not how Fedi works.

When ActivityPub is integrated into something, usually it starts federating by default. If your posts are set to "Public" that means they can see your posts by default.

You have the right to *not* want your posts to be seen. However, YOU have the power to do that yourself. Nobody should have to go out of their way to stop seeing your public posts. Stop posting publicly!

That is how all current Fedi software works. Why should new projects be forced to do it any differently?

With Awakari getting the spotlight again recently, I think it's time to remind everyone.

Unless you set your posts to "followers only", there's no safety from scrapers, AI, manual collection, etc.

Even more so, your "Public" posts can EASILY be grabbed if you're on Mastodon through your RSS feed.

There's 20k+ Fediverse instances out there and when you create a Fedi instance, it federates by default unless specifically specified. There is no guaranteed way to verify what each instance is doing with your posts.

Fediverse is not some kind of "bastion of privacy" like some seem to think.

If you want your posts to be private and almost guaranteed unscrapable, set your posts to "Followers Only".

I just realized I crossed the 900 followers mark.

That's insane. That's like 300x more people than I have around me IRL!

Thank you to every one of you who decided to interact with me over the past year. I'm coming on my Fediversary at the end of the month and it's been such a wild ride so far.

There's lots of ups and downs, ins and outs, and little nuances about Fedi, but overall, having my own little corner of the internet where nobody can tell me who I can or can't interact with, has been fantastic!

I love you all. May you all be as federated as you wish!

Now any public #Threads account (from #USA / #Canada / #Japan ?) can decide to show up / post in the Fediverse.

Gonna be quite honest. I'm VERY annoyed right now that I bought a new tablet and I can't use Megalodon or Moshidon because they don't see my instance as a "mastodon instance" even though it most definitely is....😑😳

If anyone has any ideas if theres a way to fix this on my end, please let me know. Cause this is quite depressing...I bought this tablet so I'd have something bigger for Fedi, but there's nothing quite like Megalodon/Moshidon....🤦‍♂️

Edit: It was a "me" issue. I changed values in my instances settings I should not have changed and it caused this error. I have reverted the values to something normal and I was able to login.
