Discovered this morning that Maven https://heymaven.com (a social media startup who's CEO is ex OpenAI "Ken Stanley: leading the Open-Endedness Team at OpenAI") is mass importing public posts from the #fediverse with no links back to the original and no way to delete them. It seems there is no Opt-out or Opt-in mechanism at all. It also has posts from #Bluesky pulled in via @bsky.brid.gy that are also not linked back to the original.

Here's an example: https://app.heymaven.com/profile/66927

The great #MastodonMigration after the #TwitterTakeover was accompanied by many helpful tools to find followers worth following.

With #Threads federating (partially) and #Bluesky bridged, I think we need new ones now. Are there any?

Lowkey idk if I should bridge my #Bluesky and #Mastodon accounts because sometimes, I post the same thoughts to #AtProto and #ActivityPub both,

Mastodon users: Follow @bsky.brid.gy to allow #Bluesky users to find and follow you.

Bluesky users: Follow @ap.brid.gy to allow #Mastodon users to find and follow you.

moderation isn't done on the PDS level, is it? I thought it was done seperately by moderation policies that each user can subscribe to?🤔 I'll tag this post and maybe we can get some answers.

Anyone have their #Fediverse servers bridging with #BlueSky at the moment? Have there been any technical difficulties, and can you choose which #ATProtocol #PDSes you can bridge to (as opposed to only the "main" PDS, bsky.app)?

I'm considering the pros and cons of bridging my ActivityPub instance to BlueSky PDSes except the "main" one, bsky.app.

It looks like I can even self-host a PDS now that they've dropped their ridiculous Discord requirement: https://docs.bsky.app/blog/self-host-federation

One thing that's definitely in the top 3 most annoying things on #Mastodon for me is that I see a post on https://mastodon.social now on the #bluesky feed, I want to reply to it, and there's literally no way to do it… nothing works, I don't know why, no error messages, who the hell thought this is good UX 😖

Ich hab da mal was zur #Brücke zwischen #Bluesky und #Mastodon geschrieben. Was sollte man da einmal im Blick behalten?

Politics drives knowledge sharing across the Fediverse, Bluesky & Threads.

The team at The Newsmast Foundation are excited to share new, original research on the social web, communities, and how we all fit together!

Firstly, if Jack leaves, you know it's not *that* bad but still, So honestly, after reading this about BlueSky, I smell a different kind of Enshittification will rear it's head, including locking in people. How? I dunno, yet, but this still feels like a VC backed tech startup to me even though they say it isn't one? Yet. https://newsletter.pragmaticengineer.com/p/bluesky-engineering-culture #BlueSky

New: Last Week in #Fediverse - ep 70

This week's news:

- A 10k seed funding bounty for building DeviantArt on #ActivityPub

So far, too many really evil people there. On the #Fediverse, there's some light at least.

#Bluesky #BSkyApp #Blocksky

#Bluesky has finally introduced their first version of Direct Messages, a feature the community has long asked for.

So, kinda like mentioned people only posts, ish. #bluesky

UI differences are a big factor in the success/failure of decentralised federation of diverse platforms and content

And this seems a good example: bridged #mastodon posts onto #BlueSky which has a lower character limit than Mastodon.

So, just like #lemmy posts on mastodon, you don't get the full content of the post (which ends with an abrupt ellipsis here) and have to take a link to the original platform.

However powerful the underlying protocols, this isn't far from screenshots.

@fediverse

Bluesky now allows you to unpin or even remove the default "Following" feed and make any other custom feed the default one.

The "Following" feed is the chronological one by Bluesky but there's thousands of other custom algorithmic feeds created by other users and generated by federated third party servers.
