We rarely receive long duration soaking rains in the Reno-Sparks area. While I was gone this fall, I'm told it rained for nearly two days. I wish I had been here so I could play around with making more photos like this one.

The Gerlach, Nevada, "Red Neck Weather Station." There use to be one on the edge of town, long before the Burners showed up. This much newer weather station is on the unofficially named "Guru Road" along the edge of the Black Rock playa.

Hochkant-Fotografie der Milchstraße. Das Bild ist eingerahmt von Felsen in der oberen linken und unteren rechten Ecke, wobei vor allem der Rechte von unten sanft gelblich angestrahlt wird. Im Zentrum steht das Milchstraßenband, welches sich nahezu senkrecht aus dem Horizont am unteren Bildrand erhebt und über das ganze streckt. Die Strukturen sind deutlich zu erkennen und auch die Farben sind zu erahnen. Am Horizont unten steht ein schmales Wolkenband zwischen gelber Lichtverschmutzung. Man kann ein Tal erahnen, in dem einige Lichter leuchten.

The Union Pacific Big Boy, an articulated 4-8-8-4 steam locomotive manufactured by the American Locomotive Company in 1941. Here, the Big Boy had just crossed the East Branch North Fork Feather River and was parked waiting for a VIP passenger (7/11/2025). I really couldn't have been in a better spot. I thought it was just going to roll by at that location. When it stopped, I thought, "For me?" Lol!

Owens Valley Radio Observatory 40 meter (130ft) telescope near Big Pine, California (10/13/2025). The big 40m instrument is owned and operated by Caltech. It is mostly used to observe over 1800 blazars in support of the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope.

On Rose Street in #Edinburgh, there are a LOT of pubs. Took a few pictures of some in the daytime. We didn't go to any on this particular street, but we did go to a few near the hotel, and we also did the tour at the Johnnie Walker place - I recommend it, even if you don't care for whisky (nobody's perfect). After Edinburgh was #Glasgow. What a wonderful city - I really enjoyed it, and it is such a short train ride from Edinburgh. The park along the river is beautiful, and there are plenty of pedestrian-only thoroughfares in the central part of town. #Scotland
