Looking into the glare of the morning sun snow can be seen covering the ground of a long driveway. Large pine trees are seen on the right and a utility pole is seen on the left, another tree in the center is partially obscured by the glare. This is a black and white image.

We rarely receive long duration soaking rains in the Reno-Sparks area. While I was gone this fall, I'm told it rained for nearly two days. I wish I had been here so I could play around with making more photos like this one.

There was a phase when I kept placing my wife in front of beautiful scenes - not to make a lovely portrait for the family album, but simply to give the landscape some scale. This photo is from that era. I’d copied the idea from photographers who put a tiny person in a grand, dramatic backdrop. Fantastic images, of course… and yet, gloriously cliché. Whenever I see one, I roll my eyes - and admire it anyway.
