It's really depressing to watch the Americans in my feed trying to cope with the fascist takeover of their country, and I do not wish that on anyone.
Some try to figure out the ramifications, some try to chronicle the individual steps the fascists are taking, some are discussing direct action, and some just try not to succumb to despair.
My thoughts are with you, and I can only hope and fight that the same does not happen in Germany as well.

Medicaid, the US program that provides healthcare coverage to low income people, has been shut down.
"White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, speaking at a news conference Tuesday, said, "I'll check back on that and get back to you," when asked if Medicaid payments were affected by the Office of Management and Budget order.
Murphy fired back at Leavitt in a tweet, writing, "72 MILLION people rely on this health insurance and you have to get back to us?!? Are you f****** kidding me?"
"Medicaid reimbursement portals were down Tuesday in all 50 states on the heels of a funding freeze ordered by the Trump administration of federal grants and loans, Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., said.
Sen. Chris Murphy, a Connecticut Democrat, separately said that his state's "Medicaid payment system has been turned off."
"Doctors and hospitals cannot get paid," Murphy wrote in a tweet. "Discussions ongoing about whether services can continue."

At least eight people have been arrested in connection to the kidnapping of the co-founder of Ledger, a popular cryptocurrency hardware wallet. David Balland and his wife were kidnapped from their home in France early on January 21 by a group who demanded a large cryptocurrency ransom. The group cut off one of Balland’s fingers, sending it to his associates and demanding ransom from them and family members. However, police were able to locate Balland and his wife on the night of January 22.26 “That’s 7 crypto wrench attacks in the first 3 weeks of this year. Unprecedented acceleration,” wrote Jameson Lopp, using slang to refer to physical attacks on people known to hold large sums of crypto.27 Lopp maintains an ongoing list of people who have been attacked in attempted or successful cryptocurrency thefts.
The crypto entrepreneur who called himself “The Godfather” and an LA Sheriff’s deputy have both pleaded guilty to charges including criminal conspiracy against rights and tax charges [I68]. “The Godfather”, actually Adam Iza, hired members of the Sheriff’s department to serve as “his personal enforcers against his enemies”, using them to extort, intimidate, and set people up for arrest. Other agencies, such as the SEC, have already sprung into action to push Trump’s deregulatory agenda, however. And Elon is trying to pump Dogecoin again, this time with the backing of the government.

Uyeda will likely be replaced by Trump’s nominee Paul Atkins. Uyeda quickly announced that he would be forming a “crypto task force dedicated to developing a comprehensive and clear regulatory framework for crypto assets”, which will be headed by fellow crypto-friendly Commissioner Hester Peirce. In a press release, the agency signaled its new direction by criticizing its own past actions: “To date, the SEC has relied primarily on enforcement actions to regulate crypto retroactively and reactively, often adopting novel and untested legal interpretations along the way. Clarity regarding who must register, and practical solutions for those seeking to register, have been elusive. The result has been confusion about what is legal, which creates an environment hostile to innovation and conducive to fraud.”19

The much-awaited crypto executive order came later on. Instead of establishing a “bitcoin strategic reserve”, Trump created a committee to think about whether to recommend he establish a stockpile from digital assets already held by the government.

"The bans have run the political gamut, with the subreddits for many cities and states (such as r/NewJersey, r/londonOntario, and sports teams banning all Twitter links," reports @404mediaco's @jasonkoebler. "r/christianity banned Twitter links with a gif in which Musk’s salute was put side-by-side with a neo-Nazi’s."
