I wish the term 'Ad-verse' had taken off when referring to corporate owned #SocialMedia sites.
It's such a catchy and fairly accurate term. I first came across this term from some guy on the #Fediverse when I was on social.bau-ha.us, but it never really took off.
But it's a nice easy way to say:
Those shitbag, manipulative, corporate-owned, consumed with corporate greed, advert-ridden, hell sites, owned by those corporate billionaire wannabe celebrity bellends everyone hates.

We need to be able to add followed hashtags to our lists. I can’t be the only person that heavily leverages the List functionality of Mastodon.
Why did I leave Big Tech?
The crazy US Democrat/Republican ideological civil war, COVID conspiracies, biased news, lack of privacy, advertising algorithms, and general nastiness from people caught up in all of it on Facebook led me to seek a change. Facebook royally sucks!

How do I check which hashtags I'm already following? If you're on your server's website or the web app, go to your profile page and click on the ︙ button, then Followed Hashtags. Third party apps will have various interfaces for viewing your followed tags, usually in the settings menu for your profile.

While the success criteria for a social platform depends on its users being addicted to it, the #fediverse will always look like a "failure".
Leider ist das #Fediverse in den allermeisten Köpfen noch immer nicht angekommen bzw. gar nicht existent. In meinem Umfeld weiß auch niemand, dass es das gibt, geschweige denn, was was es ist und kann.

How can we convince unsatisfied #instagram artists to move to #fediverse (pixelfed, .art) instead of #cara ?
I really think this is a great opportunity to promote #foss , #decentralized and #privacy -oriented #social_media . We need a campaign to bring these talents to fediverse!
I think the best mitigation for us on the #fediverse is to remain small -- that is, have many, many small instances where people are more likely to know one another, with application-style registration rather than open registration.
This is a good argument against federating with large, open, for-profit platforms (I'm looking at you, #Threads).

I got in the habit of "View on remote instance" to avoid saying things that were already said because so many replies don't appear. They're not from blocked servers - sometimes they're even from the same server as the original post
So what determines whether they load, and are there plans for this changing in the future?
