Thousands of volunteers from in and around the City of Valencia that were not as badly hit, headed into the affected areas today to help!

Since most roads and railways are blocked they came mostly on foot with their brooms, shovels, and packs of supplies.

I spent this week in southern Spain, where both to the east and south massieve floods caused incomprehensable loss of life and livelihood. It has been disconcerting how life just goes on, even at this close proximity, and how little one hears about this (inter)national crisis as a visitor.

This is not a critique of #Spain specifically, we had a similar reaction in northern NL to the recent floods in southern NL, BE and DE.
